Great post OP.
While looking at this I was able to get the Otis Deluxe Law Enforcement Kit (FG-750 BX) for $38.
I can't find the link anymore but Amazon was (is?) running a $15 off $50 for Otis...not sure if it was a one time offer and does show up for me anymore or if it just expired in the last couple of hours. They appear to be pretty similar kits but the LE version calls out the included .223 that I wanted.

I read this has a propriety thread, you can only attach to it Otis parts. Not a standard thread size.

I was thinking of buying one when it was first listed here at $35. Since then I've seen the price go up to $40 or so. Patience is a virtue - and it's mine now for $30.27. (and Amazon tax :(

If you keep an eye out, there's a guy on ebay that sells the 5.56 military version with the sealed fine tooth zipper. Straps for molle in the back. The real deal.

There are two versions, new and old.

The newer has the fine tooth water and dust proof zipper and the inside holder for the pieces is made of durable black rubber instead of the cheap foam garbage that wears and tears out of shape.

Its the best made, most compact, complete cleaning kit in the business. It's printed 5.56 and is desert tan in color.

This comes specific for 5.56 but all you have to do is buy the different caliber mops and brushes for your other guns. I'm sure you probably already have them. Same universal threads as all cleaning kits.

It comes with all the various little picks and scribes, a bolt scraper, and a bunch of other usable tools all anodized or parkerized black. ( I don't know which) Also comes with a bristled breach brush and a cool lens brush that looks like a tube of lipstick. You twist it and the brush comes out. All very compact, very usable, very well thought out.

The other cool thing is because it uses the coated flexible cable, it forces you to pull through the breach, which is better for your barrels. There is no push and pull like with a rod.

I bought mine for like $33 bucks to the door. Military quality. U.S MADE. Durable and tough as nails. One of the best and most impressive things I've ever bought in the gun hobby. It's one of those things that just makes you happy.

Highly, highly recommended.
