I have one of these and was more than happy to get it for $1299 + tax from Cabela's when it was on sale. If you're looking looking to get into the the larger caliber carbine platforms, this is a great start. While I am happy with the purchase, there are a few issues I've had... The free-float hand guard came loose from the barrel nut and the barrel nut, in turn from the receiver; wasn't happy about that. I do not abuse my weapons and shouldn't have had to deal with an issue like that from a new weapon with less than 1000 rounds on it. It was a quick fix however, and not a HUGE deal. The other issue I have is with the design of the firing pin retaining pin; it's not a cotter pin (like Colt M-16 was), but more of a large, threadless nut. Not a big deal since it's held in by the receiver and doesn't bare any stress... but easy to lose (it will slide right out as soon you remove the bolt carrier group)- again, not a huge deal... but I'd rather have something that'll stay put if I have to field strip it (don't want to be on hands and knees looking for it in tall grass!). As far as accuracy goes, my local range only goes out to 50 yards, but it was pretty accurate out of the box with the included front/rear Magpul BUIS.. with the Trijicon reflex sight I added it's extremely accurate (again, only fired at 50 yards). Effortless 1 1/2" group with ironsites at 50 yards... if I take my time I can put them right on top of/next-to one another. Overall it's a great gun, to be sure. Ask yourself these questions: Why do I want it? It (supposedly) has great long range capablities and is very accurate- do you have space to use a .308 round to it's full potential? Are you in shape? It's heavy.. after you're used to it, any AR-15 feels like a plastic airsoft gun. It's not unmanageably heavy, but it may require some snapping in and getting used to... Is .308 ammo readily available to you? It gets expensive to shoot when you're the only one of your buddys that has a .308 and you have no one to split a case of ammo with!!
As with any AR platform, there are endless accessories to purchase and swap out that will allow you to fine tune the way it fires, to get it a little closer to your liking. I will say the 2 best accessories I've purchased for it by far a "TacOps-1 Oversized Ambidextrous .308 charging handle" - the bolt is HEAVY and the included handle leaves alot to be desired when you try to really rack it. The other is the Magpul Enhanced Butt-pad ($17.99) - It cut the recoil by a good 40 percent and improved the comfort factor exponentially- I can shoot a couple hundred rounds at the range and am not sore. Out of the box, it will DEFINITELY let you know it's not a .223; before the enhanced buttpad, firing 60 rounds hurt.

Very tempting...how does dpms compare to the mp10?

Does it have a lifetime warranty?

For this price, honestly I'd jump on it. I jumped on it when Cabela's had it on sale for $1299 (not including tax) and was/am more than pleased. It's a solid gun.

Thanks for the info...I have a stripped lower and all the hardware to turn it complete. When I factor in the cost of the upper to build...it doesnt make sense for me to build.

I can save 150+ buyint this complete rifle.

Would this be a better option then the LR-308T? Also, could someone recommend some options for the LR-308T? I have a new one but not sure if I jumped the gun on it. It's very basic and bare and with the amount of money I will invest to customize it I'm wondering if I should get a refund and get something else. Thanks guys!

Anybody have one? How accurate? Would it be comparable to the cmmg mk3?
