There's no doubt he's "in favor" of the AWB.. the point was: every time he speaks on it he deflects and tries to move to another "solution." In my clip it was "gun tracing," in yours it was "cheap handguns."

You mean like the Assault Weapons Ban that Romney instituted as Gov of Massachusetts in 2004 that no other state had ever before done?
Yes. However, I am not exactly sure how that is relevant as Romney lost and Obama is the president. He is the only one who could institute an Assault Weapons Ban for the country by Executive Order. People are saying that would be illegal but this is the president that used an Executive Order to suppress information regarding Operation Fast & Furious. I would not put anything past him at this point.
Obama has only expanded gun owners rights. You know you can now carry concealed at National Parks because of Obama, right? And Obama had 4 years to implement this 'executive order' yet he did not. Why would he do that now? It doesn't make any sense. Obama has never done anything but expand gun owners rights. What has he done to deserve this demonization to gun owners? I don't understand.
He had on several occasions stated he would like to re institute an assault weapons ban during his first run. He got away from that during the majority of his presidency. In debates the last few weeks he has started mentioning the AWB again. Maybe he won't do anything at all. However, I would not be the least bit surprised to see him attempt to institute a number of major restrictions and possibly bans on certain firearms.
Yes, yes, everyone said this same thing four years ago. Didn't happen then and it won't happen now. FEAR = False Expectations Appearing Real. Remember, America is not a dictatorship! One man does not control this country - CONGRESS does. If it happens, blame congress, not the president. That's just poor justification to dislike the man, but I'm afraid you're going to need to find a better reason, because that one won't stick.
You can't give the president credit for adding rights and then tell people to blame congress when rights are removed.
Maybe you are right that he will do nothing. I personally think it is naive to believe that Obama would not try and implement new restrictions by use of Executive Order. I guess we will have to agree to disagree and that is fine. I am not going to change your mind and I can guarantee you that your not going to change my mind or the minds of millions of other gun owners.

Well, if you consider you have more gun rights now BECAUSE of Obama, and you also consider that the first state to ever enact a AWB was Massachusetts BECAUSE ROMNEY PUSHED IT THROUGH AS GOVERNOR, it makes no sense the Obama would go backwards and take gun rights away. He had the perfect opportunity after the Tucson shooting, and he had an even better opportunity after the Colorado shooting. He didn't do it then, and he won't and can't do it now. I can personally guarantee it is not possible for Obama to enact an AWB. It must be done by congress. You don't have to believe me. People didn't believe me four years ago when I said Obama was PRO gun, and yet gun owners have more rights because of him. And in spite of the proof of the past, your imagination still conjures up improbable justifications. The world could also end tomorrow. But I doubt it will. Time will prove me right and that you just wasted your energy over unnecessary anxiety over something that doesn't and will not exist. But again, just like the last four years, you watch and see. I predict even more expanded gun ownership rights from Obama, not less. You'll see... Remember I said it - that's all I ask.
I guess we can revisit this topic in four years and see if you were right. I actually hope that you are right. I wish that Obama would focus our law enforcement resources on going after criminals. It makes little sense to waste time and resources on removing the ability for law abiding citizens to own a type of rifle that is very rarely used in crime. The BATF even admitted that the AWB did nothing to make us safer. That is one of the reasons the AWB was allowed to expire.
I am nervous because I see the course of action Obama has taken in the past. I remember he said he was not going to waste federal law enforcement resources going after medical marijuana dispensaries in California. It has been widely reported over the last year that he has had the largest crackdown ever on these businesses. He is putting some of these business owners in prison for 10 years. You can say it is not him but it seems obvious that he has instructed the DOJ to crackdown hard on these businesses. I look at that and what he did with Fast & Furious and think he is capable of anything.
Also, why has his administration not instructed Eric Holder and the DOJ to go after all the fraud by the banks and Wall Street that destroyed the worlds economies? After the Savings & Loan crisis there were around a 1,000 high profile individuals prosecuted. Since 2008's mess I believe there has been a whopping ZERO high profile prosecutions. This is not a president I would trust with anything. If you can shrug off these actions then I believe you are only seeing what you want to see and ignoring facts.
I notice you keep bringing up Romney in your responses. I am not sure why you are doing that. The election is over and Romney lost. He is just as big of a scumbag and liar as Obama but is not pertinent to this discussion.
I bring up Romney because he was the other choice and most people on this topic seem to be under the false belief that Romney would NOT entertain returning the AWB. I just assumed you were one of those people. Just as you assumed I don't take issue with the lack of Wall Street prosecution. However, I don't believe the DOJ or Fast and Furious had anything to do with Obama. I mean, seriously, how much can one man be responsible for? I live in AZ and I am very familiar with the Fast and Furious case - Obama had nothing to do with it. The country is not a dictatorship. All the decisions and actions are not made by one man.
If Obama had nothing to do with Fast & Furious then why would be take the risky move to suppress information by way of Executive Privilege right before an election? It made him look really bad and was criticized by Republican and Democrat alike. If you don't think Obama has any influence on the DOJ then you are being quite naive. The president has quite a bit of influence and I am sure that he meets with Eric Holder frequently.

Yeah, very cool video. I especially liked the Tannerite explosions. I am in Maryland and I don't think I could get away with any of that here. I would likely have a SWAT team roll up on me. I really need to get out of this nanny state.
Thanks. Yeah, Arizona is hot and miserable and I am a minority since I only speak English, but at least the desert is good for something. Just upsets me how much garbage people leave out there. I always leave with at least one and usually two full garbage bags when I go out there. Disgusts me how people are just pigs and have no respect for the land. But I do what I can to clean the place up by taking back more than I brought. I can't seem to keep up, though...

The *LAST* thing we need is for a handful of alarmists to start up another 2008; going into horde-mode and buying up all the ammo, semi-auto's and "hi cap" magazines and driving up prices. I'd bet my left finger(nail) that there are people that still have unfired ammo from 4 years ago.

The president doesn't pass legislation - the congress does. The president is not a dictator who everyone has to obey. The president wields a lot of power, but legislation comes from the Congress. Specifically, if there were to be another AWB, it would germinate in the House of Representatives, which is the body that deals with finance (since the commerce clause of the Constitution is the hook that they use to legislate everything non-finance related). That’s where the original AWB came from, passed during the 103rd Congress - not by the President.

We're all on the same team :) not sure why people are getting so aggressive - we ALL want the _exact_ same thing.. some of us just disagree on how we expect the near future to play out.
My only point was: I hope people don't frenzy like '08.. it hurts shooters and shooting sports as a whole. It drives prices up and availability down, both things making harder to be a shooter.
