I thought it was much better to sit back like they did and not sensationalize the whole deal like the media and anti-gunners. So who represents you on capitol hill? Or are you just a troll to, here to badmouth the NRA?
As far as guns in schools, guess what, nothing new. The school I went to in Connecticut in 11th grade had an armed guard. I graduated in 1979. Couple years later they put in metal detectors. They haven't had any shootings. Nothing new.
you don't mind the police state...fair enough. i'm starting to see that from ther neocons in congress..."ahh your life is in danger, the government will protect you" this is similar to a cartoon i saw of george bush and henry. henry stated "give me liberty or give me death" bush is screaming "give up your liberties or we're all gonna die" govern by the Constitution and nothing more. the bill of rights states everything you need to know. nothing needs to be debated or compromised when it comes to our rights. the NRA has given the middle finger to this many times...NFA and GCA...
I fully agree with you.
This organization is a weak defender of gun owners. Dinosaurs. They booted some people out of congress back in the nineties and have been a one-dimensional bully ever since. If they were a true lobbying organization, they'd have been launching initiatives and promoting policy all along. Then when these mass shootings occur, they'd say, "Well, we've been suggesting this, that, and the other all along. We'd love to sit down with the VP to talk about how our policy initiatives would avert this in the future." Instead, they just reference movies like Natural Born Killers (which was released in theaters before Adam Lanza's first birthday) and warn politicians they'll get voted out of power without the NRA's endorsement. When the NRA failed to elect Mitt Romney, the governor who signed legislation banning AR-15's from Massachusetts, anti-gun democrats smelled the weakness. Very out-of-touch with modern society. We need a new advocate.
nice post!
check out above for some gun rights i posted...
i am a new member of GOA (the group debated Piers Morgan) and the NAGR. plenty more though!
these are some no compromise gun groups. Ron Paul endorsed GOA as a no BS group. LIVE FREE. we need to take our Republic back.
You all need to erect a golden Ron Paul idol and worship it.
I am discouraged by the lack of urgency I see from the NRA with our rights being threatened by new "gun control".
I feel my rights are threatened by ignorant lazy people and those who want to oppress.
Are there any legitimate (and preferably nonprofit) organizations actively and aggressively defending the constitution and the amendments?
What about a $300 life member deal. Would jump on that....
What other group is going to stop any gun restrictions? I can't say I agree with everything the NRA does or has done, but without them would we be enjoying the freedoms we have been for the past 6 years? I don't think the NRA was truly trying to put police officer's in every school, I think they were trying to deflect the ignorance of the gun control people and bring about the possibility of getting rid of "gun free school zones". I don't think video games are to blame, but I do think that combined with other things a parent should be able to figure out whether or not they should lock their guns up in the house. Mental illness is an issue, Bullying is an issue, playing only killing games 24/7/365 for a 10-24 year old could be an issue...Maturity is likely a huge issue. But even the best manufacturers in the electronics industry will say that 3% is the average failure rate, and most companies are happy with that. I think it's fair to say that no matter what laws you create and what restrictions on 'tools' you put into place...the fact that these incidents effect less than 3% of the population means it's not an epidemic and we are actually not doing that bad... Evil is going to happen, people are just going to be messed up every now and then.. You can't put everyone in PRISON just to keep them all SAFE from the 'possibilities'
Yes, I did join the NRA a few days ago for the first time, despite their faults. Despite that, its more about organization of the masses than giving a few bucks to a lobby group that is really going to count (i.e. grass roots and call your representatives).
The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF.org) or Gun Owners of America (gunowners.org) are the only other major ones I saw (also joined SAF.org). Much smaller (~650k and 300k members, respectively) but might be more in align with your own beliefs.
Also, don't forget your state probably also has a gun owners association ( OGO.org in Oregon)
The NRA has worked hard to establish a monopoly on 2nd Amendment issues, largely by marginalizing and discrediting other constituencies and organizations that could be potential allies. When people ask "what other group is going to do something?" that's EXACTLY how the NRA wants it.

Shut up troll.
