Bought a 930 a fews back, which I subsequently upgraded with OR 3 Gun parts to make it more reliable.

If I were to do it over I’d likely go with one of these (inertia operated) shotguns, and skip the upgrades.

I'd like to hear about any experiences with the M3000 platform, especially in competition (not that I'm currently competitive

just under 400 shells through this model including 200 first time out using various loads including slugs, light recoil and heavy bird shot. all without issue. comes with a choke set also. easy to load with the opened up loading port. will run as fast as you can pull the decent factory trigger. was so reliable a friend was convinced to leave the pump action world and pick one up.

I don't shoot competition, but I have an M3000 with the pistol grip and extended tube and can tell you it runs hard and reliably and keeps up with my buddy's M4 without issue. The action is smooth, it's built solidly, and honestly, in my opinion if it weren't for the branding on the receiver you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between an M2 and the Stoeger.

Nice! I was heading down the 930 road, picked up a turkey 24" with intent to convert with a non-ported barrel (or cover the ports for now) but if this will be easier on my thumb, then I'm switching.

The 930 is an excellent shotgun, too. If I were you, I'd stick with whichever you can get a better deal on.
