Description

Rumors were that Kel-Tec would finally announce the release date and MSRP for the RMR-30 carbine rifle at the Shot Show, but unfortunately this did not happen. They did have a non working display model available for those that were interested in this rifle. Knowing that the extremely popular PMR-30 production is finally at full capacity, we are hoping that the RMR-30 will hit production before the next Shot Show early next year. The RMR-30 has the same pistol grip and hybrid blowback/locked-breech action as the PMR-30 and adds a very practical collapsible stock. 22 WMR can achieve speeds close to 2000 ft/s muzzle velocity when shot through a longer barrel, compared to the 1200 ft/s from a PMR-30's 5" barrel. In the meanwhile, check out these pictures by Oleg Volk and click on Visit Deal to see a short video of RMR-30 disassembled.

The Kel-Tec RMR-30 Rifle is chambered for the .22WMR cartridge (22 Magnum). The design is a rifle version of the popular Kel-Tec PRM-30 pistol. The same 30 round magazines are used. The single action trigger mechanism, bolt stop, ambidextrous safety levers, and mag carch are also identical. The RMR-30 rifle includes a collapsible stock and the 16" barrel is threaded 1/2" - 28 to accept many different muzzle attachments. The collapsible stock allows for a short overall lenght of 22.6" with the stock collapsed, and 30" when extended. The long top picatinny rail will accept a multitude of different optics, and the removable under picatinny rail is included. The ambidextrous operating handles are non-reciprocating and latch in the forward position. The stock latch lever is also ambidextrous and located just in front of the trigger guard. An integral Sling loop is included near the rear of the grip, on both sides.

The RMR-30 is construced of hard-coat anodized aluminum for the upper asssembly and rails and houses the steel barrel. The collapsible stock is made with aluminum stock rods, and a nylon butt plate. The stock was designed to have a natural cheek weld when extended. The grip, mag catch, safety levers, stock latch and operating handles are made of glass reinforced nylon (Zytel). The grip houses the frame which is made of 7075 aluminum. The bolt assembly is made of 4140 steel and includes the captive recoil spring assembly. The RMR-30 can easily be disassembled by pushing out the assebly pin, then unlatching the rear grip latch.
