Description

i know its not a deal. But it used to be a good deal site.

Groupon has suspended all gun-related daily deals. The move will please those calling on Groupon to change its policies, but at least one gun shop owner is livid about his deal being canceled midway through.

Ive requested refunds for my current groupons. I just dont understand why they do not want to promote a safer gun culture.

oh well.

I never used them. The deals were never that good anyway, now I have a good reason never to open an account with them.

I put together a site for folks to sign and let Groupon know, specifically, that gun owners are leaving. Yeah, there are a couple ads, they MIGHT cover my hosting charges. http://www.groupongunboycott.com/...

Yeah, the real irony of all of this? Groupon themselves actually admits [because they never had "gun deals"] they're only banning CLASSES, COURSES AND INSTRUCTION-related deals - the few avenues an average person has to learn how to safely handle and manipulate a firearm.

Even by "gun grabber" logic that seems completely ass-backwards.

Unsubscribed my account, wife's, and passed the word along to friends who will do the same. Stupid that they are shunning safe and responsible companies that teach people how to respect weapons and the responsibility that comes with owning a weapon.

We should compile a list of these sort of companies (Groupon, B of A, Dicks, etc.) and have it posted on the front page for users/guests to see.

I received my reply this afternoon:

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us.

We understand that this is a sensitive topic, and that some of our customers may not agree with our choice to pause the promotion of firearm-related deals. Groupon has always aimed to offer a diverse range of products and services to meet the various tastes and interests of our subscribers. However, at this time, enough customers and merchants have voiced their opinions that we believe a hiatus is warranted.

Please note that we have never sold guns, and this hiatus only applies to firearm-related deals including shooting ranges, clay pigeon shooting, and concealed weapons training classes. We have not made a final determination regarding this category -- we are simply taking a break and may reevaluate in the future.

Per your request, I've unsubscribed this email address. You will stop receiving Groupon promotional emails within 48 hours. I can also close your account, but I want to be sure you're aware that once it is closed, you will no longer be able to access previously purchased vouchers on Groupon.com, and any existing Groupon Bucks will be voided. Please let me know if you would like to proceed.

We genuinely appreciate your opinion and the feedback you've given us. I'll be sure to share your comments with the appropriate people.

Regards,

I contacted them yesterday to tell them I'm not doing business with them any longer due to recent decisions they have made about gun related deals. I also told them that if they were to change their minds in the future I will reconsider our relationship.

here was the response I received minutes ago
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Thank you very much for your feedback. We never intend to upset our subscribers, and we genuinely appreciate your thoughts. I'll make sure that your opinion is communicated to the appropriate channels.

The deals featured on Groupon are largely shaped by our subscribers' tastes and requests. We regularly survey consumers and test new types of features across the country, and we encourage local residents to let us know what they think. Similarly, what works in one city may not be embraced in another, and we try to take in local sentiment as much as possible when selecting each region's local deals.

Again, I apologize if we've offended you and appreciate you writing in.

Regards,

While I am not a "boycotter", I did send an email to "Investor Relations" on the Groupon site, saying my family was 'suspending' any further Groupon purchases as long as Groupon was suspending any Gun related sales. I also asked they pass on my comment to the entire Board of Directors since the CEO is a member and they should know what his actions are doing to their sales. You can access the "Investor Relations" on the Groupon website if you wish to comment to them directly.

In keeping with my first amendment rights I have removed the Groupon app from my iPad and iPhone to protect my second amendment right.

What's even worse about Groupon's ban is that the deals they have are the kinds that are taken advantage of by people who want to learn to use firearms RESPONSIBLY and could result in saving lives, not taking them. Did they stop to think for a minute that the people who want to cause harm would actually invest the time and money in a conceal-carry class or something similar? Unbelievable!!!

That was my initial thought too. Good thing Nanny Groupon is limiting access to those evil training courses. We wouldn't want people trained in using a firearm now would we?

I believe in my area I've seen similar offers from Living Social for concealed carry and introductory courses, so I guess these folks can take there business over there.

Based on what I read, the CEO has only suspended the gun related sales. As such (and see my later comment), I have notified them that my family has similarly "suspended" our Groupon purchases as long as they do the same to the gun related sales.

Wondering if I should just unsubscribe from their email alerts or SHOULD I POSSIBLY DO SOMETHING MORE DRASTIC such staying subscribed and each time I get an email from GROUPON, contact the first company listed in their ad and contact them to say not only do I not support GROUPON for not being fair in their business dealings, but I will not be supporting any company that is advertising on their site either.

I just sent them this email:

It has come to my attention that Groupon has suspended all gun-related deals. Over the time of my membership at Groupon, I have noticed many gun safety and training courses in my area through Groupon promotions. It would seem that this action is the exact opposite of what would be encouraged considering the utmost importance of gun safety.

So, it is my request, that if this information is true...please cancel my account and terminate all email contact from Groupon. I do not wish to support any organization that discourages gun safety.

Thanks,
me

Did the same thing this morning when I read about it. I sent them an email demanding my account be deleted and that I'll never support them due to their decision. Power in numbers is exactly right, look what happened to the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, they lost almost all the big companies and gun/hunting industry stars that were going to it.

Same here. While they cater to a bunch of whiney mamby pamby's they are alienating a huge segment of their customers. I really hope others cancel all dealings with them and LET THEM KNOW WHY!
