.36 is a pretty accurate cap and ball. You'd be surprised. The navys were .36 not .44 like most of the replica guns. Very fun to shoot and super low recoil.

This is a beautiful revolver I wonder if it could be converted to fire the 38 special caliber ?

Howell Old West Conversions, Taylors, Kirst Konversions and others make conversion cylinders for the steel frame (not brass, too weak) black powder revolvers to shoot centerfire ammo. They are revolver and brand specific, but the .36 caliber guns will usually convert to shoot cowboy load .38 special and .38 Colt (Long Colt) ammo. Just be careful you only use the specified ammo and nothing stronger or your beautiful BP revolver may turn into a hand grenade. Nothing except the cylinder swap is necessary, so you can go right back to black powder anytime. The cylinders can run more than the gun sometimes.

**AGAIN: DON'T USE A CENTERFIRE CONVERSION CYLINDER IN A BRASS FRAMED BLACK POWDER REVOLVER OR YOU MAY BLOW IT (AND YOUR HAND) UP!**
