The Smith & Wesson Model 10 is a planetary popular K-frame revolver. The Model 10 is a six-shot, double-action, .38 Special revolver with fixed sights and has been manufactured since 1899 (under the name Model 10 since 1957). It has been produced for a long time and has had barrel lengths of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 inches. The Model 10's popularity is largely a result of how uncomplicated its construction is. For most of its manufacturing run, the Model 10 has been offered in both a nickel finish and a blued steel finish. Both the round-butt and square-butt grip designs have been available for the model over the years. The tapered barrel and its distinctive "half moon" front sight had been replaced with a straight bull barrel and a sloped milled ramp front sight starting with the Model 10-5 version in the late 1960s. Modern Model 10s can fire any .38 Special round, including +P ammunition. Also, a small number of .357 Magnum variants were created between 1970 and 1998. A big part of the Model 10's popularity comes from the simplicity of its design.
