Description
The original Starr revolver holds the distinction of being the third most common Civil War revolver, with approximately 23,000 units purchased by Union forces between the late 1850s and mid-1860s. Manufactured by Starr Arms Company in Binghampton and Yonkers, New York, the Starr competed against more recognized names like Colt and Remington. What distinguishes the Pietta Starr Double Action Black Powder Revolver from other percussion revolvers of its era is the unique two-trigger, double-action mechanism. The large front trigger rotates the cylinder and cocks the hammer in a single motion, then trips the rear trigger at the end of the pull to drop the hammer. Shooters can also operate the revolver in single-action mode by manually cocking the hammer and using only the rear trigger.
