Got it in today it came in a cardboard box and has a straw through the barrel and dirty as hell. But I guess that’s what you pay for
399 shipped might be an enticing price
If this was 399 with free shipping I’d be al over it
Been looking at this gun but everyday it seems like the shipping keeps going up. It was 30 now it’s 35 for it
The website must be broke.. it went up to 65$ for shipping then it dropped down to 25$
When this go down to 380-400. I might consider to get one just to have a good part kit from Hungarian
I purchase this rifle and I personally feel it is a good AK for the price I would buy this over a in pap or Warsaw
This is a good ak47 but gotta spend about 70-110 more on it to make it look n work right. Magpul Hand guard and grip about 80. New psa gas tube and cut it short to make it fit about 20 more. No side mount for scope. Can install one for 15 but screws look ugly inside of receiver. Barrel not chrome lined and hammer forged. I'm definitely buy the Wasr10 over this just because all the items I just listed.
Please explain. Seems like a decent price for an AK. If it's a bad product, please provide reasons. As someone who is looking for a cheap (and good) AK, I'd like to know why I should or shouldn't get this one.
+1 gobblygook. It would be nice to hear feedback form someone who actually purchased this product.
Even though century had a new US made longer barrel on these, at least they maintain the original ‘FEG Hungarian’ receiver... not many imported AKs left with their original receivers... jump on these while you can, because when these are gone they’re gone !!!!
Bought one.. 429.99 and used a 20$ off coupon I found.. 409.99 not too bad.. took about two weeks to arrive to my dealer.. ordered the house hand gaurd and grip kit for 45$ immediately installed and it looks amazing.. took it apart a bunch no problems at all everything seems to work great.. gonna go shoot asap!
i bought one 6 months back. i didnt notice anything canted until i went to zero it. the barrel trunnion, gas block and front sight base are all 3 on a different plane. the stock's storage door broke the second time i opened it with a bullet tip. the dust cover is even canted. while charging the bolt will hang up near the rear. i installed approx 450$ of stocks, rails and rds before i even noticed. buy with caution as their qc is lower than early days of century.
Wish this was 399 and free shipping would buy it
Still waiting for this to go $400 or a little less. C'mon Classic, you have been trying to move these for a long time, be done with them already.
Got one with a mag catch that is too short. Bolt was skipping over the rounds with a variety of mags. Not sure how they could screw this up, but I’m almost certain its a flaw that is reason for price tag. Go out and shoot before rating
Like the way this rifle looks won't change a thing. Rugged, accurate and reliable. Outstanding! Get one at this price.
Buy it!
The bad, grips on this thing are 3rd world primitive. Absolutely horrible. Spend a few bucks to replace the foregrip with a good one you can mount an optic on. While you're at it, put on a magpul pistol grip. After that, you got a really nice AK. Accurate out of the box. Really nice trigger. Sights were dead on at about 25yds. Feeds crappy steel case.
These are good guns for the price but one minor thing the foregrip is very uncomfortable, angled the wrong way it needs to be flipped and moved up a few inches. Like I said no big deal but useless the way it is in my opinion.
I have an arsenal ak for the house but I want this as my truck gun/rifle
I need to correct my statement. It was a riley defense not a Daniel defense. Too many guns. Lol. Still a great ak.
I've been thinking about getting one for a while. I agree on io being crap. I took chance and got an io and has canted sites. Never even shot it. I ordered a Daniel defence for $525 with wood stock from classic and I'm very pleased with it. Especially for the price. Might order couple more. Really like the look of this rifle. I know everyone complains about 30rd mags r hard to rack back into place. Wonder if have same probs with a drum. Well if sh*t hits the fan I have many more guns to choose from for fast reloading. Sure I'll order one some day. Waiting for ak prices to start to drop like ar's have been.
Anyone hating on these doesn't have one. haha seriously. This is hands down the best AK you can buy for sub $500. they function perfect and are made from quality hungarian parts. Far better than similar American made offerings from IO, Century, and other turd companies. The barrel is not that great but you will never shoot it out. If you can afford to shoot it out you can afford to put a new one in. That is all.
I don't care the barrel is too long or incorrect materials to be a REAL AMD... For $450 an AK-Style, AMD-Style if you will, is a good buy.
The amd-63 came equipped with a full size shoulder stock and a 16 inch barrel. The amd-65 is the short barreled variant with the wire folding stock that most are familiar with.
I got one of these a while back. For $450 they are great. I don't like the argument that you should get this or that even though it's almost twice the price. 99% of the people here will never shoot out the barrel.
I agree. If you can afford the ammo to shoot out a barrel, then you can afford a new barrel or new gun.
great rifle. reluctant to from other related reviews, but jumped on it a day was pretty impressed
Why all the dislikes? I thought these were supposed to be nice.
But be prepared to pay $700+ for a REAL AMD. Not these dopey looking ones with the crappy barrels.
I bought 2 AMD 65's from them just before Xmas ($449.99ea plus S/H). I'm not disappointed with the build or quality of parts.
Pro's
Both spot on at 50 yards OOB (Out Of Box)
Good price now days for a quality AKM
Cycled 200 rounds ea. no stoppage
Shoots Steel FMJ ammo (HP?)
Accepted Croatian and Korean Metal mags.(30 and 20rds)
Con's
Hand grips are crap and were obviously NOS as they were all marred up.
They cheeped out and didn't include a cleaning rod.
Fewer furniture options/accessories for this Variant
Poor Finish. Be better if Blued or Parkerized.
Shipping was high $56.10 for the 2.
Think Classic is less than honest with grading (found this out later with surplus pistols)!
Must have improvements for this and most AKM's (cheap upgrades)
Recoil Buffer, Replace Shepard's hook (crook) w/ retainer plate, hammer Mod/Job, Trigger group Mod/job, Safety Lever "Bolt hold" open Mod
I like the looks of the AMD 65, but if I had to do it over again I would have gotten an AMD 63 and an AMD 65 instead of 2 AMD 65's.
FYI AMD 63 & 65 got a bad rap for being less accurate because of the 12 1/2" Barrel and the 65 for being less accurate due to lack of Cheek riser from wire Butt-stock. Also for lack of heat shield on metal hand guard. Due to DUMB BATF reg's these rifles have a 16 1/2" barrel and are more accurate. Since you're not in a war zone (yet) and these are semi and not full auto there's no prob with heat!
