I bought a 2 pack, they are in great shape. I doubt I could get 2 Halloween gag gas masks for less

They are indeed threaded for 40mm.

If you took a dish washing sponge and put that in your mouth, then wrapped your entire head with Saran Wrap, then punched a hole in the plastic so you could breath through the sponge.
That would probably be a lot more effective than this WWI or WWII relic. Some gas mask filters became toxic with age due to improper materials they were made of.

Coming from a background in hazardous material handling, I wouldn't risk my life to wear one of these in a hazardous environment. Believe it or not, there's a lot more to properly using and maintaining a respirator than simply strapping it on your head and attaching a cartridge to it.

These are great novelty products, but there is more appropriate gear that you can buy if you intend to use it.

Aren't you ashamed of the ignorance you are showing by posting this nonsense? WWI? I can tell you are not a genius by a long shot... Please don't reproduce.

This specific model was invented in the 60s. Given the condition it's advertised to be in, I would bet it's quite effective for the purposes it was designed for.
I would definitely want new filters given the age however. If this is threaded for 40mm, it's a steal.
