With the introduction of their M2.0 line of polymer framed, striker fired pistols, Smith & Wesson addressed the one big complaint that gun buyers had about the M&P line: the trigger. As we’ve mentioned in previous reviews of both the full-size and compact

FYI, I wouldn't buy from Firearms For Sale. They had a Shield on their website for a good price, so I bought it on a Thursday evening. Got a call Friday that they didn't have it ready yet, but it would ship Friday or Monday. I called Monday, they said they hadn't gotten FFL info (which was true) so I had it re-sent in. Tuesday I got an e-mail saying they were refunding me because they didn't actually have one, but they would put me on a priority list for when they got more in. Now they have more in, and no notification. The people I talked to were very friendly, but it was an overall bad experience.

I paid $367 for mine yesterday from Firearmsforsale.
Got the last one their website said they had.
It shipped today, and I should be able to pick it up Monday.
Overall a great experience. Its rare for gun companies to get stuff out so fast now a days.

That's lucky. Glad you had a good experience, because I certainly did not. I saw that $367 one but I didn't trust that they had it.

Yeah these move REALLY QUICKLY, you've got to grab them the very second you see one come up as available or it will be gone, often inside of a few minutes.
It's almost like finding .22LR ammo! LOL

Here's the actual Smith & Wesson "Commercial" for the M&P Shield.

I just started the video, but I'm already liking this thing. "Slightly double stacked" is something I've been wishing more guns would do.. assuming they did it the way I'm thinking. An extra round or two for not much more width/length.

Damn, I'm tempted.

Very nice. Just wished they made it with the safety as an option. Will have to wait and see.

Just in time for my CC gun deliberations. Arghh... I want it without the safety too! (And preferably in .40 but I could live with it either way.)

Apparently the MSRP is just $449, compared to $569 for the M&P/M&P Compact. Depending on how the election goes we might see this for $350-$375 around Black Friday!

EDIT: And totally awesome though this is - All-American quality, great price - shouldn't it be (cross?)posted in the Handguns section? Also, no interchangeable grips with this model - apparently done to keep size down.

Me too haha.. I've actually been checking out CC .40S&W's lately, so I'm gonna be curious to see how close to the 9mm they can keep the .40S&W. This looks a little beefier than it's 9mm "competitors" (Kel Tec PF9/Ruger LC9), so it'd be pretty nice if they kept the 40SW and 9mm close enough that you could swap calibers with a barrel change.
I've never even seen the gun in person, so that's 100% my imagination heh..

If prices keep trending in the same direction, it's pretty much out of the equation though.. Even without seeing it, I really like this gun though.. so it'd be nice if I COULD afford it. I really need a good carry gun.

Gonna be curious to see it side by side with the PF9 and the LC9 - those have kinda become my baseline for carry 9mm's. (And I would have said Kahr, but that's a little out of my range at the moment heh)
