Heckler & Koch
One of the top producers of small weapons in the world, the Heckler & Koch company was established in Germany, in 1949. HK sells its handguns in the US to both law enforcement and civilian sectors, and also supplies weapons to numerous military and paramilitary forces around the world. The company has branches in Georgia, New Hampshire, and Virginia.
Gun innovations by HK include the use of polymers in weapon design and the incorporation of a rail for flashlights on weapons. Modern polygonal rifling, also designed by HK, is renowned for its superior accuracy, enhanced muzzle velocity, and long barrel life. They produce a variety of weapons, including the MP5, UMP submachine guns, G3, HK417 combat rifles, HK33, G36, and HK416 assault rifles, MG5, HK21 general-purpose machine guns, MP7 personal defense weapon, USP line of pistols, PSG1 sniper rifle, etc. Operating systems employed by HK include blowback operation, short-recoil, roller-delayed blowback, gas-delayed blowback, and gas operation (short-stroke piston).

The VP9 was developed by Heckler & Koch to meet the need for an ergonomically enhanced handgun. The VP9 striker fired design ensures a consistent trigger pull weight from the first shot to the last. Safety features abound on the VP9 and include a Push Button Magazine Release and a unique side mounted drop safety for the firing pin. The frame incorporates a trigger mounted safety that prevents accidental discharge if the VP9 is struck or dropped, and a disconnector ensures that the slide must be in battery for the VP9 to fire.
