The 4" Colt Anaconda is a large-frame, stainless steel .44 Magnum revolver, redesigned with an oversized Python action. This double-action/single-action revolver features a ventilated rib and a full-length ejector-rod shroud, adding weight near the muzzle to control recoil and reduce recovery time between shots. The revolver is equipped with a recessed crown to protect the rifling, and its topstrap is drilled and tapped for optics, reflecting the increasing popularity of red-dot sights on defensive handguns. The all-black iron sights are blued, and both the front and rear sights are adjustable, with the front blade easily replaceable for different lighting conditions. The Anaconda’s design includes Hogue rubber grips, which, while narrow with pronounced finger grooves, offer a secure fit for better control, especially for shooters with smaller hands. The revolver’s slightly longer cylinder allows for the use of extra-long, heavy bullets, and its weight helps manage recoil effectively. The Anaconda utilizes the same "V" spring design as the new Pythons, with a smooth trigger pull averaging 9.5 lbs in double action and 6.25 lbs in single action. Despite slight rotational play in the cylinder, it locks tightly during firing, offering reliable performance in both single and double action. The trigger's smooth travel allows for "staging," enabling precise shots by pausing before applying final pressure to fire.
