The Browning BPS Field and Browning BPS Field Composite are key models in the renowned BPS series of pump-action shotguns.These shotguns have been updated for 2020 with ergonomic improvements, including a redesigned stock and forearm, an enlarged trigger guard, and enhanced overall ergonomics for improved handling. Both models boast a robust, machined steel receiver and other critical steel components for durability and longevity. The BPS Field features a matte blue finish on both the receiver and the barrel, complemented by a satin-finished walnut forearm and stock, available in 20-gauge with a 3” chamber and 26” or 28” barrel options, and a 12-gauge with similar barrel lengths. The overall lengths and weights vary slightly between the different models to accommodate specific shooting preferences. In contrast, the BPS Field Composite mirrors the specifications of its counterpart but includes a polymer stock and forearm, offering a slight increase in weight for the 12-gauge models. Internally, both versions of the BPS Field employ heat-treated steel slide bars for precise, linear action and feature a unique floating rib above the barrel to enhance sighting without influencing barrel vibration. Visibility is aided by a prominent silver bead front sight, and handling is facilitated by a top-tang safety, accessible from either side, making these shotguns suitable for both right and left-handed shooters. The BPS Field series is distinguished by its bottom ejection system, which enhances its utility in adverse weather by preventing water entry, typical in side ejection systems. Further refining its shooting capabilities, the BPS Field utilizes back-bored barrels for increased exit velocities, achieving tighter patterns and reduced pellet deformation. They are equipped with Invector-Plus interchangeable chokes, including Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder options, accommodating various shooting conditions. The shotguns support a 4+1 capacity with 2 3/4” shells, or 3+1 with 3" or 3 1/2” shells, and come standard with a three-shot magazine plug for regulatory compliance in certain hunting scenarios. The inclusion of an Inflex recoil pad innovatively redirects recoil force to minimize shoulder strain, enhancing the shooting experience.
