Based on the Barrett 98B, the MRAD introduces several enhancements, making it a top choice for both precision shooting and operational duty. The rifle's monolithic upper receiver, machined from durable 7000-series aluminum, features a full-length M1913 Picatinny top rail with built-in taper, optimizing it for long-range precision. The handguard is equipped with mounting slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, offering a rigid and adaptable interface for attaching accessories like electro-optics and additional rails. One of the standout features of the MRAD is its user-changeable barrel system, allowing for quick conversion between seven different calibers or multiple barrel lengths with just a Torx wrench. The MRAD features a fully adjustable match-grade trigger module and a folding stock that reduces its overall footprint for easier transport. The stock locks securely when extended. The MRAD SMR (Single Mission Rifle) is a streamlined version, retaining 90% parts commonality with the standard MRAD but featuring a fixed non-folding stock and a free-float barrel, which reduces weight by nearly 2.5 lbs and overall length by 1", while still delivering .75 MOA accuracy.
