Field & Stream magazine has given the Ruger® Guide Gun its 2013 "Best of the Best" Award. The modern Ruger Guide Gun is a flexible, all-purpose hunting rifle that incorporates elements from some of Ruger's most well-known guns. The Guide Gun has a Green Mountain laminated wood stock, a stainless steel action and barrel, a removable muzzle brake, safari-style iron sights, adjustable length-of-pull (with three 1/2′′ spacers), and a barrel band sling swivel. There are six calibers of the new Ruger Guide Gun:.30-06 Spr,.300 Win Mag,.338 Win Mag,.300 RCM, and.375 Ruger. A removable, radial-port muzzle brake on the Ruger Guide Gun greatly reduces felt recoil. If you don't need the brake, you can use the system's included dynamically-matched muzzle weight in its place. Switching between the brake and the weight, according to Ruger, "won't alter the bullet's point of impact. If neither the brake nor the weight are desired, the accompanying thread protector may be used. The Ruger Guide Gun incorporates a three-position safety, Mauser-style regulated feeding (with a claw extractor), and Ruger scope rings that mount on the built-in mounts. All Ruger Guide Guns have front sights with large white beads and shallow "V" notches that may be adjusted for windage for quick sight alignment.
