The Ruger Model 77 is a line of bolt-action rifles, including 77/17, 77/22, 77/357, and 77/44 models. It features a traditional Mauser-style bolt with two lugs and a claw extractor, as it was intended as a modernized Mauser 98. Instead of the Mauser blade-type ejector, it has the simpler plunger style of ejector. The M77 uses an angled action screw and an incorporated scope mount machined on the receiver. A rugged, stainless-steel bolt with 90-degree bolt throw, quick lock time, and cold hammer-forged barrel increase accuracy and precision. The M77 has a detachable rotary magazine with a unique rotor that splits up cartridges and provides reliable loading. There are many variants of the M77 that include M77 Mark II, Hawkeye, the SAR .30-06-caliber model specialized for Canada’s search & rescue technicians and aircrews, and the Gunsite Scout rifle. These rifles are highly respected by hunters and sportsmen for over 50 years.
