Piston driven ARs are favorites among many shooters due to the advantages that they offer over direct impingement systems, but one problem with piston guns is the added weight that comes with a piston system. To try to solve that issue, the engineers at VKTR Industries created a the VK-1 piston system which offers all the piston benefits but with the same footprint and weight of a standard direct impingement system.
