Description

The Colt 1836 patent expired in 1857, and the next year, Remington introduced a solid-frame design that was both elegant and reliable. The 1858 Remington became so famous that it was the prevailing choice of military officers following the Civil War. The full-frame design of the Taylor's & Company Pietta 1858 Remington New Model Navy Black Powder still makes it a top choice for black powder shooters today as the cylinder can be removed without taking the firearm completely apart, unlike the Colt models. The brass frame remington features a brass frame & triggerguard, octagonal barrel, front blade sight, and walnut two-piece grips. The brass parts can be kept polished with metal cleaners like Flitz. Taylor's does not recommend using conversion cylinders in brass frame models.

The brass frame would be for modest shooting only. There is a reason why they don't not recommend using conversion cylinders in brass frame models.

Sure does look nice though doesn't it? Id think this is more a display gun than one to go shoot the crap of it. Haha.

Yes, nice looking gun. I would probably shoot it a couple times clean it and put it away. Decent price for today's world but I remember when they couldn't hardly give these black powder pistols away.
