A plain Beretta 92 starts over $600 (except for surplus or contract overrun at $580) but the inox is typically $800. At that price a 92XI is more like it.
A stainless PT92 is $500 at Dahlonega or Locked & Loaded. Blued is $430-450.
I prefer my PT92 due to the frame mounted safety. Other than grips panels, parts and barrels drop right in. 92XI or SAO have the features I like.
The PT92 isn't a lesser quality gun than the 92FS, and past that there's multiple reasons someone might prefer the Taurus. The biggest one is the frame mounted safety as opposed to the slide mounted on the Beretta, it's in a much nicer spot, easier to reach, less of a chance of mistakenly engaging it. Past that, the Taurus has a superior decocker system which allows you to carry cocked & locked whereas on the Beretta you can't. The rear serrations are also different, and IMO, easier to grip on the PT92. The Taurus has a metal guide rod, the Beretta has plastic. Lastly, the Taurus is available in stainless which a lot of people prefer (myself included.)
For this price....you might as well buy a Beretta.... . . . .
