Description

Ruger® Security-9TM 9mm Semi-auto Pistol Born from the personal protection pedigree of the old Security-Six Revolver, the all-new Security-9 Pistol delivers the same solid construction, absolute reliability and affordable price that made its predecessor such a hit. But unlike the Security-Six Revolver, this is a modern firearm with modern materials and a modern ergonomic design that makes it easier to carry than other mid-size pistols. The Secure Action is derived from the reliable and proven hammer-fired LCP II fire control system, combining the smooth trigger pull of the LCP II with the short, crisp feel and positive reset of a single action. The internal hammer provides strong ignition force yet allows for easier slide racking—and won't catch on clothes or holsters when drawn. The low-profile safety is likewise very unobtrusive on the draw, but is still very easy to operate. The contoured grip tucks nicely into your hand, giving you easy access to the trigger and mag release. The grip itself is what Ruger calls a medium texture…it's not too aggressive, but still easy to hold onto. And the kicker? We tried it out in a few Glock 19 holsters, and it fit beautifully. It's easy to carry. It's a joy to shoot. For protection in a pinch, reach for the new Ruger Security-9, the ultimate mid-size carry gun. Compact for easy concealment, the mid-sized Security-9TM is designed to fit a variety of available holsters and concealed carry options Rugged construction with blued, through-hardened alloy steel slide and barrel and high-performance, glass-filled nylon grip frame Precision machined, hard coated aluminum chassis with full-length guide rails Secure Action System combines the smooth trigger pull of the LCP® with the short, crisp feel and positive reset of a single action Dovetailed, high-visibility sight system with drift adjustable U-notch rear sight and fixed front sight Internal hammer provides strong ignition force, lessens the force required to work the slide, and won't catch on clothing Textured grip frame provides a secure and comfortable grip Safe, easy takedown with no special tools or trigger pull Safety features include bladed trigger safety; manual safety; neutrally balanced sear with significant engagement and strong spring tension; and hammer catch to help prevent the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled Includes two 15-rd. magazinesOrder today! • Its a cheap well made reliable compact gun from a company that has a great track record of taking care of customers. I got mine for $270 shortly after release. Its not a particularly interesting gun other than it is a good balance of features and price. A perfect inexpensive 'only one gun' choice. Mine sits on my bed stand with a laser light combo. I dont love it but its like a good dewalt drill... a reliable tool for the job.

  • How you feel about this gun reflects on how much you paid for it. if you got it for $300 or thereabouts - you're probably pretty happy. If you pay $400 for it - like I did at the height of panic buying you probably don't like the gun as much. As far as function - it's brilliant - super reliable - relatively easy trigger to manage. The size is a sweet spot for a concealed carry gun. But everything else about the gun is pretty mediocre. The sights it comes with are the "U - dot" ball in a cup type Glock sight - which nobody thinks is a good idea. The traction on the grip is pretty slippery - which is probably good for concealed carry because it won't chafe against your skin - but not great for shooting if your hands are sweaty or wet. The trigger is OK - it's a DAO type trigger and is pretty easy to manage. Magazines are a little too expensive for this gun to be a budget gun. For about the $400 price point the Security 9 will get the job done - but there are other options - like the Canik that will make you feel special and do just as good a job.

I'd like to see 8 rounds in a sub compact 9mm. It's what is keeping me from getting a Glock 43. I don't keep a round in the chamber (personal preference), so 6 rounds is just too little horsepower. I don't use grip extensions either as it prints too easily and defeats the purpose. Just make it a lean double stack with a slightly thicker handle. Don't like the G26 either...ha ha. I don't want 6 rounds and I don't want 10 rounds. I want 8 rounds in a lean double stack configuration.

Walther PPS, while a good gun, isn't for me. It goes from 6-8 rounds by extended magazines. Yuck.

HK P30SK is a 10 rounder. Not for me. If they'd slimmed it down and left capacity at 8 rounds it would've been perfect.

    Sorry to ramble off topic...

Get you a M&P Shield 9mm with 7 round flush magazine, buy Magguts +1 spring kit, now you have a very reliable 8 round 9mm subcompact pistol without extension. Its the best option available for you right now. Its how I carry my Shield if I have to (8+1 or 9+1). My EDC is FNS or FNX in 40SW (15+1) (please dont start a caliber fight)

"LCP on steroids"....fine w/ me. Can't wait to buy @ reduced price w/ a rebate induced by the haters. Keep on hating! PS....maybe somebody ought to start drop testing these to claim they discharge, so we can get free hats, magazines, gun rugs, etc on the recall.

Big Ruger fan here, but dang that's an ugly handgun. I don't know why Ruger has been trying to appeal to 15 year olds with their bad attempt at space gun aesthetics with the last couple of models... The SR9 was sleek, at least.

And please start meloniting instead of blueing Ruger!

I'm not a teen but totally disagree with everything you said. I think this is one of the best looking polymer guns I've seen and can't stand crappy looki g melonite. This is made to be economical meloniting is not and it's ugly, blueing is much more aesthetically pleasing to most...

If it didnt have a safety, I would get one just for fun.
