I have one of these. Its adequate for keeping out young kids, before you teach them the gun safety rules.
and after you aren't able to open this in time during a home invasion they will drive you to your ATM to withdraw your savings at gunpoint! Screw that keep you gun close and handy.
I disagree with both comments. It is a pretty heavy duty safe for $35. What do I use it for? To keep my loaded gun next to my bed yet my kids can't get inside. I can roll over, punch in the code beep-beep-beep and be in in less than 2 seconds. In the middle of the night in the dark, $35 for 2 second access is pretty good. Try that with a cable lock.
You could throw this thing around your house and it would not open.
Don't get me wrong an adult with a crow bar or a well placed blow on the concrete would open this thing up. However, no body is getting inside without leaving evidence of their efforts.
These guys just don't get it: This little safe is meant to keep the basic of the basics out of the safe (like my grandkids) and keep the pistol ready, loaded, and available within reach when needed. I do one step beyond what you do. I have several of these little safes all around my house (and my office) and the one next to my bed is screwed down to the top of the nightstand. Every night before I hit the sack I unlock the entry door and keep it open so I can grab the handgun as quickly as I could grab a gun from a drawer if not faster. For $35 bucks and the ability to have several throughout the house and office it does it's job quite handily housing a Sig P229 or S&W AirLight or Colt 1911 Commander. Easy.
"However, no body is getting inside without leaving evidence of their efforts". Again, this is demonstrably false. A paperclip will be good enough to hit the code reset button from the outside. I realize that if you aren't getting a liberty safe, it is probably more for kid protection than theft protection, but this doesn't fit the bill. Sentry makes a good quick access and the gunvault speedvault is good too. Bottom line, this is better than nothing, but not by much.
This thing is crap. Silly plastic, awkward opening motion, and the keypad reset button can be reset from the outside. I bought one a few weeks ago and sent it back to amazon.
Before you buy this surf the internet these safes can easily be opened by anyone in a very short amount of time.

If this reset can be accessed from outside, then block the reset once you have it opened, then it cannot be reset without opening the safe. Still, this is still not a liberty safe.
