The A2 plate design takes advantage of Steel’s edge-to-edge protection to make a cut that protects your vitals while trimming as much weight as possible: Multi-hit capable, edge-to-edge coverage, Level III+ tested, and lighter than even many ceramic plates at 5.5 pounds. The A2 is tested to stop .308 rounds at up to 2,850 FPS and 5.56 rounds (M855, M193) at up to 3,000 FPS. Its protection is both multi-hit (stops multiple successive rounds) and edge-to-edge (protection on the edges as well as the center). As an alloy plate, it is also especially resistant to backface deformation, meaning the kinetic energy transfer is less harmful. The FragLock™ coating, a unique polyurea coat that is sprayed on the plate, protects the plate from weather and protects the user from fragmentation. It does so by deflecting or capturing parts of the bullet that otherwise might come toward you. The coating contributes to the plate's twenty-year shelf life, where it can be safely expected to perform at top strength.
