China did not have a long history of firearms manufacturing. The oldest factory was Jianshe and it was built in 1889 during the Imperial Dynasty in the city of Chongqing.

From Wiki:

Chinese Type 56 (1956–): Numerous minor tweaks, including lack of milling on the bolt carrier, partially or fully stamped (as opposed to milled) receivers, and differing types of thumb rest on the take down lever. The Chinese continually revised the SKS manufacturing process, so variation can be seen even between two examples from the same factory.

All of the Type 56 carbine rifles have been removed from military service, except a few being used for ceremonial purposes and by local Chinese Militias. Type 56 carbines with serial numbers below 9,000,000 have the Russian-style blade-type folding bayonet, while those 9,000,000 and higher have a "spike" type folding bayonet.

The same rifle as uses against is troops... What kind of marketing strategy is that really? Like I figured they were but why would you say that to try and sell one?

Can someone tell me if the barrels are threaded or pinned?

I would say this is threaded as mine is a Jianshe Arsenal as well but I didn't get it from them. Based on how beat to hell this looks, I would say these were military models. Usually the pinned models (late production) are marked Norinco when imported. These were for the commercial U.S. market. Don't hold me on this though. You should call the seller and ask to be sure.
