Works with pistols but not any long gun. I have two mounted in my house for pistol use and they are great. However one magnet will not hold a long gun at all even a 7 pound shotgun.
I don't have one in my car but I have one under my office desk & I really can't imagine it losing handle of a gun even with the bumps of a road.It is surprisingly small when you have it in your hand but very strong.I usually hang an FNS .40 mid size upright on it & there have been a few times that I did a push pull like move to disconnect it from the magnet & felt like the slide actually wanted to rack a bit before it came off.
have any of you guys put one of these in your car for vehicle carry?
seems like a good idea but not sure if the magnet is strong enough to handle the vibrations and bumps of the road.
thoughts?
I wouldnt put it in my car, but I've got one (the Tac Mag version) under my desk and its awesome. Holds my 9 with ease.
