This is functionally a "torso target." What they call a cut piece of AR500 doesn't matter when it comes to "ricochet and spall." Same metal, same hardness, same coating (or lack of)....and you are behind the metal, do you think the spall does a U-turn????? Not even mentioning carrying 14lbs at near arm's length is a stupid move for HD but lets not even get into that. Which hand are you going to open doors with...the shield hand or your gun hand?

I wouldn't try to use a torso target for a shield, there is more than one reason why you need to be a safe distance from such a target with ricochet and spall being just a couple of them. Maybe you could try to aim the ricochet back at the intruder like a superhero if you could hang on to the target shield after being hit by a 45 bullet. I would try something like the Alpha Shield because " at least no insanely high for what it is."
