Description

AK-74 Semi-Auto Rifle W / Chrome Lined Barrel by Waffen Werks. The wear on these is limited to the furniture sets only, otherwise these rifles are the same in every way. If you are a refinisher of wood, or if like me you don't care so much about the cosmetics of the rifle... Then this is one fantastic deal.

I've considered a ww for a while but I can buy a sport VEPR for $50 less and customize it just how I want it for about an extra $150 or so ($100 net) and have a Russian weapon that is FAR SUPERIOR IMO.

What that's the best you can do????? Come on blame Ford for GM's ignition snafu, stick to BB guns dip-shit.

I bought one of these a few months ago. Absolute crap, sent the rifle back to waffen to be fixed, a month later the rifle is returned to me with exact same problems as before, not sure if they even touched the rifle. For 600 dollars this rifle should have excellent furniture and should atleast WORK, this is not a deal, do yourself a favor and stay very far away from this junk.

Waffen Werks are garbage, but don't take my word for it. Do a little research & see for yourselves all the problems people have with them. Stay far far far away. You want a 5.45 AK, save your $ and buy an SLR-104.

I did what you suggested and researched this gun. WW had some QC issues related to switching to their own receivers in 2013. However, I think they have fixed these problems. I got a used WW in Feb that was made in Oct 2013. I took the gun to the range and had no problems firing hundreds of rounds of canned surplus. Not a single FTF/FTE. I think most manufacturers have issues at one point or another and WW is no exception. I highly recommend this weapon.

No disrespect intended but clearly research isn't your strong suit. "QC issues" doesn't begin to cover it. Twisted receivers, crooked barrels, too thick chrome lining in the bore & barrel, canted sights the list of foul up's is a long one & a totally unacceptable one, 99% of the troubled rifles never should've left the armory. You got lucky, if you did indeed get a good one, a few 100 rounds is nothing though. The bottom line is only the mis-informed & ignorant would "highly recommend" a Waffen Werks build.

"No disrespect intended... mis-informed & ignorant"

Yea right. I get it, you got stuck with a lemon. It happens. It also happens (a lot) with Century's weapons, but you advocate for them. You actually recommended WASRs in one of your posts.

On Feb 4th, you stated:

“You can pick up a Waffen Werks for $599 over at Classic, I see nothing about this rifle tha makes it any better than a WW build, let alone $140 better. AK prices are trending down, personally I'm holding off until summer before I spend my gun allowance.”

Were you "mis-informed & ignorant" when you recommended them then?

Absolutely. I was new to the 74 platform & a Waffen Werks was my 1st, it was a great rifle for about 200 rds & then the SHTF. Obviously I recommended it before that, however I am not "stuck" with it Classic refunded my $ as they should have. I took my refund added a little to it & bought an SLR-104 & never looked back. Had I better informed myself before I purchased my WW I could've saved myself a whole lot of hassle.
As far as WASR's go they actually have cleaned up their QC issues & produce a quality rifle for the $, them & N-Pap's are by far the best bargains in the AK world at the moment. Though that has nothing to do with WW so I don't know why you brought it up other than your a little butt-hurt you bought yourself a POS rifle.

I brought up Century and the WASR because only a complete moron would recommend a Century or WASR while attacking WW. They have a very long history of QC issues. Sure, you may have gotten a good one, but plenty of people get burned. It’s not hard to find reviews of a bad Century on the net whether one is talking about WASR, Centurion 39 or even N-PAPs. I bought an N-PAP in April and it came with a bent sight tower.

I’m glad you admitted that you posted a recommendation about the WW in Feb that was “mis-informed & ignorant”.

Lol you're calling me ignorant while claiming CAI builds Pap's & WASR's????? News flash Pap's are built in Serbia at Zastava & WASR's are built at Cugir in Romania. All CAI does is open the mag well so they can run hi cap mags & add the 922r parts. CAI builds mostly garbage, but there imports are good to go. You've just proven yet again how mis-informed & ignorant you are, which is good so no one will be inclined to buy a WW on your recommendation. Go away, troll.

I'll stick with that as to how much your recommendations are worth.

A wise man will admit his mistakes, a fool never will. Keep running your mouth & proving over & over again what an enormous dumbass you are. CAI build WASR's & PAP'S!!!! What a f@#$%&* moron, stick to BB guns...On 2nd thought BB guns are probably a bit much for you, have your mommy buy you a squirt gun.

Bought one two weeks ago . Went out yesterday and put 200 rounds of tiger ammo through it with no problems. I'm using Tapco mags . The rifles finish is much better than I expected. The wood has a few light marks and discoloration from use , but overall a great buy.

Friend bought one of these.

Got to shoot it today for the first time and its a jam o matic.

Tried 3 different types of mags and it wont make it through 3 consecutive rounds without a FTF he says.

I like this rifle I think. I am not a gun pro though, what are the chances I get one that does not work?

This gun is a steal for the money. I picked one up a few months ago and feel comfortable comparing it to an Arsenal. The odds of the Waffen Werks "not working" are pretty slim. Classic Firearms is a reputable company and has good service should you encounter any problem. Also, the AK platform is about as simple as you're going to get, mechanically. A little research (reading) on the AK, as well as watching a few youtube takedown/cleaning videos, should leave you feeling quite confident in your ability to take it apart and put it back together again, as well as make some upgrades to the rifle.

Actually, there are some QC issues with WW right now. Granted it looks like only a few rifles out of the many they are producing. I suggest you jump on AKfiles and do soem reading, shivdaddy: http://www.akfiles.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=9...

Received mine in 2 days. Gorgeous rifle and stock really doesnt need to be refinished. Will purchase from classic again.

I purchased one of these the last time it showed up on Slick Guns, I am very happy with it. Stock really doesn't need to be refinished at all, mine is in pretty good shape for a supposed second tier set. Have probably 90 rounds through it, no issues yet. Finish is very nice on all metal parts. VERY happy with my purchase.

I got my WW74 on the 1st of Oct. bought the original finish good wood stock set rather than the B grade.
Very nice rifle, no malfunction of any kind in the first 600 rounds, sights are good and accurate as far as my old eyes can see, 200 yds or so. Excellent rifle IMO, if they drop in price that's great, but I have no regrets, I love it. and the ammo is cheap enought that I can still take it to the range every week and still buy food.

I've heard waffen werks has been having quality control issues with their rifles recently, only reason I wouldn't buy this rifle at this price point.

It's not a long time ago, it's happening now, but it is only a few rifles from what I've read: http://www.akfiles.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=9...

Decisions, decisions... This 74, the T1/Larue package or the g19 gen 4 for sale right now for $529.

I've wanted a nice 74 for sometime and while doable, this price is still a little steep in my eyes...The g19 is cheapest, but also redundant as my g26 works just fine... and as Cadillac and truly desired as the Aimpoint package is, I could keep shooting irons and hold out for the holiday sales.

Oh $600, what shall I do with you? Once in a blue moon it's almost easier to save than it is to spend.

If this was a folder, my decision would be made.

Any info on which aftermarket stocks fit these?

This should use any stock set designed for the AK platform outside of Yugo/Serbian, Saiga, and Veprs.

Picked one of these up a few weeks ago. You will be shocked at how nice the fit and finish is on these rifles. I got the cheap "b" grade stock, plan to replace the wood furniture, but it is functional and can be refinished if you are into that. Barrel is chrome lined, muzzle brake is not spot welded, tapco mags fit perfect with no wobble, iron sights are dead on, not a blemish on the gun. Compirable in quality to most Arsenals I've seen. For 599 I may order another soon, not to mention the cheap cost surplus Russian ammo tins..

Make sure you compare to a real all-russian made saga with russian barrels.

I pulled the trigger and got one you figure take the B grade stock and grip off and purchase a new front handguard $150 and Magpul stock and adapter $150 and you got a very kick ass AK74 with nice addons for around $899.99 which you can find new ones for with nice stock and grip.

Waffen Werks has been putting out these rifles for a few years now, and I have NEVER explicitly seen them going for less than $599. Can anyone else say they have seen a lower price? I know we've all seen CIA ak-74s going lower, but they are of lower quality than Waffen Werks? If not, how can we be so sure the price will be lower than this?

FYI, After Sandy Hook, in January, these ran dry and were selling for $1100 on gunbroker.com. You were always able to get the 7n6 for at least $250 for that whole thing. I am holding out for sub-$150 for the 7n6 and I am thinking I will buy 15,000 rounds.

Edit: Also, apparently the stocks on these are garbage. No problem though, there are a wide variety of good, cheap stock systems out there because they take the same stocks that an ak-47 would.

I went back and forth on this and eventually decided to pull the trigger based on a lot of positive reviews on AK forums. Rifle showed up last week and I put about 100 rounds down range this morning, golden tiger ammo. Overall, I am satisfied with the rifle. The finish is very nice and the rifle functioned perfectly. Mags fit firm with little to no movement. The gun has no rattle at all which is unlike a lot of AK's.

There was a small amount of rust around the scope rail which was disappointing but came right off with some aluminum foil. All numbers match on my gun.

No, it's not as nice as an arsenal but its a perfectly functional and appears to be well built. I think it is a good value in today's market. Sure, prices may go down eventually, but 625 with shipping out the door isn't a bad deal.

I've waiting and waiting, pulled the trigger on this deal. Waffen Works is a reputable company when it comes to assembling Bulgarian kits for AK74s. They are reviewed well, a simple youtube search will get you some high view count reviews of Waffen Works AK74s.

I have held off on purchasing a rifle waiting for the bottom, and although I think prices can still go down a bit more, I am not going to risk waiting for another "event" to come up and reignite the gun-debate.

I ordered this from classic firearms last night as soon as I saw it was available, you're getting a reliable, chrome-lined barreled rifle that shoots very cheap ammo. Spam cans can still be found everywhere for .18$ a round.

I was debating with myself for a while if I should hold off on a deal for an AR but unfortunetly ammo prices are double that of the 5.45x39mm. Not only that, Wolf, Golden Tiger, and many more manufactures are beginning to ramp up the 5.45 ammunition production as more and more ak74s are bought up on the American civilian market.

You would be very hard pressed to find a good AR-15 for under 699-799, and if you're planning on replacing the stock and handguard like me, I would say this is a buy.

Im glad after many months of disappointing "deals" posted here I actually found one that I pulled the trigger on without a moments hesitating.

Some background: I got screwed over during the panic when I ordered from IO INC for some polish sporter AK47s that they promised for me and then called me almost 2 months later telling me they were all out of them and were not expecting anymore. After that they promised me the IO Hellhound Ak47 at the same price I would pay for the Polish Sporter had I received it, and another 2 months later they still didn't get back to me. They stopped answering calls or taking my emails. A bunch of crooks with a Better Bureau Rating of F. Around April they called me and had the nerve to ask if I still wanted the Hellhound rifle at 100 more..... I told them to fuck off and never call my number again. Since then I have been keeping an eye out for anything I would consider a decent deal.

Do your research. Look at the price trends/availability of the AK-74 over the last 12-18 months. If you graph it, you'll notice that the prices are dropping like a lead balloon. It will continue to drop. I'd guess the bottome is somewhere in the $450-$500 range for a 74 in this condition.

I've heard about 99.99% positive reviews of these Waffen Werks guns, but I'm still weary of american made barrels. At least this one is chrome lined though. With base Saigas going for no cheaper than $450 right now, I'm tempted to just jump on one of these and try it out.

I know gun/ammo prices are still on their way down, but I've never personally seen a Waffen Werks go for less than this amount.
