I wish this company (Hi Point) and others like it, Lorcin, Raven, Jimenez and Jennings would be somehow shut down forever. The antigun crowd regularly goes after the 2A folks and average firearms but it's companies like these whose products find their way into the hands of the criminal element. Jennings, Bryco Arms and Raven used to sell theirs by the case without serial numbers in their Los Angeles parking lot until they were caught and sued. I can count using the fingers of one hand the number of high quality firearms I've seized during search warrants and arrests. The normal everday common criminal can be counted on to carry guns that cost less than $25 on the street and $150 in the store.

It's ugly and heavy yes but gets the job done for someone out there. At least this one isn't covered in "hundos". I use to bash high points like many others then I purchased one for shits and giggles. Didn't care for the trigger but I beat the shit out of it and it still fired. Great truck gun but will not be my carry gun.

Ugly & heavy? Yes! Good budget gun for a person of little means or a truck/boat/cabin gun etc...? Yes.

Not everyone has $500- to skies the limit, to buy a brand name pistol / carbine. For what they cost and what you get in warranty and customer service, they are a hell of a deal in my book. A 9+1 45acp or 10+1 40S&W pistol for $150 is something most folks can afford. The heavy slide is needed because of the blowback design. That mass also makes them very soft shooting guns.

I always find it funny that those who bash them often have never fired or handled one. I find the 45 & 40 cal pistol to very reliable along with ALL their carbines

I own many more expensive brands: SIG, FNH, GLOCK etc..they all have their place. If a need a decent beater gun that I won't cry over falling off a cliff or over the side of a boat... Hi-Point wins there. Not many hi end guns can take the abuse a hi-point can.
