The Hi-Point Model JCP is a .40 S&W-chambered, blowback-operated, semi-automatic handgun. Like all Hi-Point handguns, the model JCP features a polymer frame, a 4.5-inch barrel, and a slide made of ZAMAK-3 alloy with steel reinforcing. The term ZAMAK stands for Zink (zinc), Aluminium (aluminum), Magnesium (magnesium), and Kupfer (copper), which are the German names of the metals that compose alloys. The weapon has a built-in accessory rail for installing flashlights and lasers on Hi-Point rings. The safety is a lever that locks the slide and stops the movement of the sear. The safety locks the trigger/sear, preventing the weapon from being cocked while it is engaged. The ejector also serves as the firing pin.
