Just got one for $180 cash local private sale. All matching numbers in excellent condition came with bayonet, pouches and oil can. I think I did good.

So you spend $200+ on a mosin Nagant, butchered it hoping it would shoot as good as the savage that is $50 more, and still think it is a collectible piece of history? Lmfao

I love my mosin nagants but if I want something with an adjustable power scope, the savage wins hands down. It will shoot groups half the size or less than the mosin

Just got back from the range. Not 'pretty', mine was made in 1944, 8 years older than me. Scout scope installed, got rid of all the cosmoline...and it's STILL fugly. Funny though it's a shooter. Gonna keep it pretty stock for the time being. The trigger is good with no creepy take-up, grittiness is minimal. There's things I can easily do to fix that. Seems to like 180+ gr bullets and commercial rounds. It got a lot of looks at the range. Have shot it to 100 yds and it's keeping them inside 2". Great for a project that you do on the cheap. I did add a Brass Stacker Go-Lo Scout mount and pistol scope. Perfection at another $140.00. Smokey Mountain Guns & Ammo delivered the goods, this exceeded my expectations. The stock was 9+ and finished up easily. While there isn't a lot of metal finish it is in very good shape once you get past the tool marks. Cerakote with fix that up. No regrets. Great piece of very shootable history with an excellent cartridge. It took me a little under 30 hours to clean it up and finish the stock, worth every minute. Great platform for honing your gun smithing skills.

you can get a modern bolt action .308 for $60 more. Tapped for a scope, with warranty, made with modern metal, not exposed to corrosive ammo and hard use.

This is a good deal, and if you don't own one, you'll regret it in a few years when they are 300, then 400.... You get the picture.
My Grandpa sporterized a German G33/40 he brought back from the war because it wasn't worth anything and he needed a handy deer rifle. There's a beat up one on GB right now bid up over 900 bucks with 6 days left. His was all-matching and perfect.

Mosins will go up in value just like everything else. Not as fast due to the large numbers made, but there was like 14 million K98's made too.

It's better than sharpened toothbrush but not as cheap...I leave you to decide.

Price will slowly increase but lesser people are buying them because a spam can of 440 rounds used to sell less than a $100 now are $150 or more.

Yea sadly this is the new normal as far as price for the not-uncommon Mosins. Don't fool yourself into thinking the damn ammo pouches/oil cans/etc. add value to the sale though. Those things can be found for practically nothing on eBay.

The bayonets are selling for at least $20 on Ebay, sometimes more. 10% of the selling price doesn't seem like practically nothing. Slings sell for $15-20, oil bottles for a few bucks, cleaning kits are selling around $8.

Relax, quick draw. Did I say bayonets? No.

Matching bayonet included is definitely a plus.

And don't forget that if you get all the extras from a 1/2 dozen different sellers on ebay, it's "practically nothing" x 6 costs of shipping!

Alright hater's parade, $199 for a mosin WITH the bayonet and two ammo pouches is a pretty good deal these days.

Yes, we know. You bought a mosin back in 68' for $12.50 and it came with a free Russian T90 tank.

I paid that amount in 2013 after the last gun grab scare. Lowest online price that I've seen since then may have been around $169. I'm not sure if that included the accessories.

I got one for 80 bucks in 2010

Supply and demand for ya

Too bad you can't buy 440rd spam cans of ammo for $80 like back in the double-00s either! [sigh] The good ol' days are gone, my friends: now lets go out & make sure the ones ahead aren't even darker by making sure Hitlery loses the election!

Is this website serious right now? What IDIOT made the site?

Multiple broken links, some to important things like " Click Here to read firearm ordering instructions."

Then, the most comical "I am over 13 years old", this checkbox shows up while ordering a rifle! Insane!

Im not sure I would trust these jokers....

Its amazing how they might have a very nice brick and mortar store but their website is basically total trash and barely functional. Problem is most gun stores are run by Elmer Fudds who refuse to get with the program.

One day you think guns shops could even figure out to have live inventory.

Don't you know keeping live inventory around firearms is dangerous?!?

WON'T SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!!

Yeah too bad the CAI ones I have seen have a bunch of import stuff laser etched on them too. Takes away from the nostalgia.

Boys I remember(here it comes) back in 68 I went to Roses bought a 35 cent pack of Winstons, a pair of Wranglers for 2.99 and saw these and a few SKS's in the sporting goods dept for 59.99 each...I declined hoping they would go on sale.

Yeah the cheapest one I got was $125 last year but I have seen a beated up one this early summer for the same price and I didn't get it lol.

Good price? I don't know. Debating I should spend $350-$400 for a finish Mosin carbine or this.

Spend the extra money and buy an M39. Don't spend the extra money if you plan on refinishing it though. I personally like the Finnish weapons though.

Buy the cheaper Mosin to have a sample of the species and get a K31 for real shooting.

Love K31's, and I have every Swiss rifle in that whole line-up starting with the 1889. They are all great. I also have 4 M39's, and all but one will hang with the Swiss rifles in accuracy all day. Not with Spammo, but with some good handloads. M39's may be a Mosin at heart, but they are excellent rifles and very accurate.

Here come the obligatory “I remember when these were blah blah blah only 30 years ago when there were still warehouses full all over the USSR…..I’m not buying again until I can get them under 79.99 at the Rose’s gun counter.”

Hahaha. So true. I never got one for less than $120 though. I still can't believe they are this high though. At this price I'd just save up an extra $100 and get something modern.

$200 for a functioning rifle isn't a bad price though--if you want something different. But, yes, a modern rifle is better if you don't have extra money to spend.
