Originally produced in the 19th century for rimfire and centerfire cartridges, the 1858 New Model Army was a robust and reliable sidearm, priced at $9.00 for civilian use. Cimarron's improved version features a cartridge cylinder chambered in .45 Colt, and is available in two models: the CA1000 with an 8" barrel and the CA1004 with a 5.5" barrel. These revolvers are not conversions from percussion models but were designed and manufactured to fire cartridges from the start. In addition to these models, Cimarron offers the Preacher 1858 Dual Cylinder revolver, inspired by the firearm used by the character Preacher in the film Pale Rider. This tribute revolver includes a specially designed .45 Colt conversion cylinder and a .44 caliber percussion cylinder, allowing for quick reloading and versatility.
