In 1995, the Thunder 22 model was released on the firearms market. It is a.22LR-caliber double-action, semi-automatic handgun. The Thunder 22 is based on Bersa's renowned Thunder 380 and is comparable in weight and dimensions to its larger caliber cousin. The handgun is a DA/SA hammer-fired type. As a result, the slide-mounted safety serves as a decocker and manual safety at the same time. Both the button-style magazine release and the slide release are easily accessible on the gun's left side. The Thunder 22 has a magazine disconnect safety, just like many modern .22 LR pistols.
