In 2018, Kimber debuted the Open Country rifle in response to the growing popularity of long-distance hunting and marksmanship among shooters. The rifle has a number of characteristics that make it perfect for shooting at practically any distance. The Open Country provides a high level of performance, making it ideal for hunters who move around, by combining match-grade components, proper design, and a carbon fiber stock wrapped in GORE Optifade (Open Country pattern). One of the greatest stocks is found on the Open Country. Since carbon fiber was used in its construction, it is both strong and light. Kimber's Open Country stock is exceptionally well balanced, has consistent weight distribution, and has a premium feel to it. The rifle is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor/.308 Win with 4-round magazine capacity. The fluted, heavy barrel is threaded and made out of steel. The Kimber 84M short-action receiver serves as the foundation for the Open Country. The advantages of the regulated round feed and non-rotating claw extractor are included in Kimber's 84M action, which is comparable to a mini-Mauser. The bolt has a thicker target-style handle that provides a secure grip even when under stress. There are no iron sights on the Open Country rifles. They feature two sling swivels located on the forend that make it simple to connect a bipod and sling at the same time.
