The Browning Silver is a tested-and-proven gas-operated semi-auto shotgun. It has been around since 2006, and there are 14 variants in the Silver semi-auto line from Browning. They offer a variety of finishes and come with slug guns for killing deer. The Silver line, the newest autoloader from Browning, has a gas-operated, semi-automatic action and is constructed on an aluminum alloy frame. The heart of the Silver series is its self-adjusting Active Valve gas system. According to Browning, the Active Valve system is intended to reduce shoulder recoil brought on by gas emitted from expended rounds. Most of the gasses drive the action while shooting light loads with the Silver shotguns. However, with bigger magnum loads, just a small portion of gas powers the action. The leftover gases are vented via the forend and away from the receiver by the active valve. The recoil at the shoulder is minimized by channeling the gasses via the shotgun's front.
