The Glock 17M, introduced in 2016, was developed as a response to the FBI's request for a new full-size 9mm service pistol, with "M" standing for "Modified", indicating its significant upgrades over the Generation 4 model. The Glock 17M offers a barrel length of 4.49" and a standard magazine capacity of 17 rounds. Key upgrades include the removal of finger grooves to enhance grip adaptability, an ambidextrous and extended slide stop lever, and a rounded slide nose for smoother handling. The 17M features a flared magazine well and redesigned magazine baseplates for quicker reloads, along with a tougher nDLC (diamond-like carbon) finish for greater durability and corrosion resistance. Unlike earlier models with polygonal rifling, the 17M uses conventional rifling for improved accuracy across different ammunition types.
