SHOT Show 2022 - Crimson Trace RIG

Updated 52 months ago

I like integration, especially when it comes to guns. Maybe it's because I want the cyberpunk future that's been promised to me. I like little gadgets and gizmos that do something a little bit different. That's why the RIG caught my eye at the Crimson Trace booth. Crimson Trace has been the laser company for decades, but as of late, they've become one of those companies that produce a little bit of everything.

Introducing the RIG

This includes lights, and the RIG stood out due to its sleek, integrated design. RIG stands for Rapid Illumination Grip. It's an angled foregrip that integrates a light into the design. It's sleek, slim, and lightweight. The RIG only packs 500 lumens, and by the head design, I'd imagine it's more of a floodlight than a focused beam.

However, in the close confines of a home, 500 lumens isn't bad. If you're strapped for rail space, then the RIG might be an option for you. It's sleek, compact, and would fit perfectly (and legally) on an AR pistol, Subgun, or similar rail estate stressed area.

The light can be adjusted via a switch on the head through various brightness modes, but unfortunately, they didn't say what the different lumen levels were for these modes. The RIG uses quick detach rechargeable batteries and comes with two batteries. You don't have to remove the unit to swap batteries either.

The RIG can attach to M-LOK or Pic rails and comes with ambidextrous controls and a remote switch. The controls on the rig seem to fall right where your index finger rest. I can't seem to find an official weight and length for the RIG, but it looks short and sweet. MSRP will be $204.99

Hopefully, TTAG will get one for a full evaluation. I've been pleasantly surprised by some of the Crimson Trace products and the RIG certainly seems cool.
