Glock G45

Type: Semi-Auto Pistol

Length: Barrel - 4.02" | Overall - 7.28"

Stock: Polymer Frame

Caliber: 9mm

Magazine Capacity: 17 round

Starting off our lineup we have one of Glock's most recent submissions. The G45 pistol is a standard Glock 9mm that features a G19 slide on a G17 frame. One of several “Crossover” designs, the G45 has a combination of a shorter, compact slide with a full-sized grip. This allows for individuals who like the conceal-ability of the G19 but prefer the grip of a G17 to have an off-the-shelf option that meets their wants. Because of the G17 frame it will accept all standard G17 mags, which includes 17, 19, 24, 31, and 33 round capacities. Additionally, there is an MOS variant available. This means Glock's Modular Optic System allows for easy installation of a reflex sight without a custom cut slide. Since it is a Gen 5 pistol it includes the smoother trigger, flared mag-well, ambidexterous slide stop, and reversible mag release upgrades to the standard Glock pistol. It comes in the standard black finish.

Weight: 18.48 oz

Caliber: 9mm

Magazine Capacity: 10+1 round

If a subcompact is not to your tastes but you want a smaller, more convenient package than a standard Glock, the G48 fits the bill. Featuring the same frame and capacity options as the G43X, the G48 has a compact slide. Both of the current Slimline family feature standard Gen 5 upgrades but have the minimal drawback of no light mounting options. Both pistols tend to lean towards deeper concealment and need to be paired with a handheld light for low light environments.

Sig Sauer P365

Type: Semi-Auto Pistol

Length: Barrel - 3.1" | Overall - 5.8"

Weight: 17.8 oz

Caliber: 9mm

Magazine Capacity: 10+1 round

Jumping over to another big brand pistol, we have SIG SAUR's P365. Described by SIG as a microcompact pistol, the P365 is more of a line than a singular pistol. The P365's major goal is to make small pistols more shootable, easier to control, and more effective than traditional sub-compacts. It has a double-stack magazine offered in 10+1,12+1, and 15+1 capacities and comes in three major variations. The P365 XL is the larger variant, featuring a barrel that is just under 4 inches. Both XL variants feature night/day sights, a standard 12 round magazine, and SIG's XSERIES trigger. The XL ROMEOZero comes with a pre-zeroed ROMEOZero reflex optic mounted while the standard XL does not, although they are compatible. The XL also features an optional external manual safety.

The more eccentric variant is referred to as the P365 SAS. It features a Flush-Fit Tritium sight, designed to be non-snagging. In practice this means it is more suited towards pocket carry and very close-quarters shooting. This pistol revives a few experimental pistols, at least in spirit, that emphasized snap shooting over more aimed fire. The SAS features a barrel just over 3 inches, a standard 10 round magazine, and does not come with the option of a manual safety.

The last variant is the standard Nitron. It features the barrel length and magazine of the SAS and the standard sights and manual safety option of the XL. All models feature a rail system of some form.

Springfield Hellcat

Springfield Hellcat

Type: Semi-Auto

Length: Barrel - 3" | Overall - 6"

Weight: 18.03 oz

Caliber: 9mm

Magazine Capacity: 11+1, 13+1 round

A surprising opponent to the SAS, Springfield Armory's Hellcat is definitely one of the dark horses coming up in the microcompact world. Sporting a base capacity of 11+1 with an extend 13+1 magazine, it inches out ahead of two of the P365's magazine options. Combine this with the optics ready variant and an slide protector and you have a forward leaning microcompact. The added accuracy of the optic and the ability to mount some form of light to the gun gives the options available to much larger handguns, but in a slightly smaller package. The Hellcat is definitely worth a look if you are considering a smaller than standard handgun.

Sig Sauer P320

Length: Barrel - 5" | Overall - 8.5"

Action: Double Action Only

Caliber: 9mm

As SIG decided to compete with Glock in the striker-fired arena the P320 became their metaphorical flagship. Available in a variety of calibers and models, it is a full-sized handgun with a 17 round standard capacity (in 9mm) that is modular in regards to its M17/M18 variants. These variants, in full and compact sizes respectfully, allow for you to pick the barrel length you want and the capacity for your area. It provides a good option for those who don't want “Just another Glock” but still want to be able to have Glock-like accessories and an optional manual safety. The rear sight plate also allows for optics to be added to the pistol, boosting performance. The wide variety of variants allow for semi-custom options from their traditional TACOPS to their Legion series.

Smith & Wesson's offering to the striker-fired sphere, offers a reliable alternative to the bigger names in modern semi-automatics. If you are more budget minded, M&P line pistols are often on sale, allowing you to get a new out of the box pistol at or below trade-in Glock prices without sacrificing quality or ability. Glock G19X

Type: Semi-Auto Pistol

Barrel Length: 4.25"

Action: Safe Action

Caliber: 9mm

Magazine Capacity: 17+1 & 19+1 round

Marking the first steps into their crossover series, Glock developed the G19X for submission to the military to become their standard handgun. The G19X variant comes in an FDE finish with all Gen 5 upgrades. Being the basis for the G45, it features a G19 slide on a G17 frame. However there is currently no MOS variant of this pistol (which may or may not change). It offers the same benefits as the G45 but with more historical significance since it was one of the more favored contenders for the military's new service pistol. The G19X accepts all G17 magazines and is supported by the large Glock aftermarket. If you want a pistol that is both interesting and functional, the G19X fits that criteria.

Glock G19

Type: Semi-Auto

Length: Barrel - 4.02" | Overall - 6.85"

Weight: 21.16 oz

Caliber: 9mm

Magazine Capacity: 15+1 round

The G19 quickly became the standard for concealed carry firearms. It is one of the most recommended and modified pistols to be found in the hands of police, competition shooters, and civilians. The Gen 5 variant has an improved mag-well, ambidexterous slide release, and reversable magazine release. The grip is still smaller than a G17 so individuals with smaller hands will more than likely be more comfortable with it than larger handguns. In addition to the Gen 5 upgrades there is an MOS version of the G19 allowing for beginners to purchase an upgrade ready firearm without costly custom work being added to the pistol.

Glock G17

Type: Semi-Auto

Length: Barrel - 4.49" | Overall - 7.32"

Weight: 22.04 oz

Caliber: 9mm

Magazine Capacity: 10 round

In its Gen 5 variant, the G17 has removed the sometimes annoying finger grooves from the grip in addition to any other improvements to the frame. The G17 is the first of Glock's pistols and it has served as a work horse for military, law-enforcement, and civilians alike. Larger than a G19, it fits individuals who prefer larger grips and full-sized handguns. If you want a highly supported full-sized pistol with a proven design and a great aftermarket, the G17 is still available in its Gen 5 and Gen 4 variations. And if the price of a new pistol is not to your liking there are numerous trade-ins that can be found, but you have to be quick as they turn over quickly on the trade-in market.

The G17 today is still extremely viable. It features a 17, 19, 24, 31, and 33 round magazine capacities. This allows you to find the right magazine for your intended purpose, with most concealed carriers opting for a 17 or 19 round magazine to keep printing down. A MOS variant is offered by Glock, helping keep the platform itself viable. The G17 has largely been outstripped by the G19 and will probably have the G45 begin to replace it as time goes on. However many people will still prefer a slightly longer slide, a slightly longer iron sight radius, and a bigger grip.

Glock G43X

Type: Semi-Auto

Length: Barrel - 3.41" | Overall - 6.50"

Weight: 16.4 oz

Caliber: 9mm

Magazine Capacity: 10+1 round

Our next pistol is one of the two new slimline pistols offered by Glock. One of the major complaints about more modern pistols is their larger dimensions, especially in width, when compared to older standards such as the 1911. Others desire a more compact pistol than a full-sized handgun and prefer the greater conceal-ability for the trade off of capacity. The G43X features a standard 10 round capacity which makes it better suited to travel or life in areas that feature magazine restrictions. The G43X also features a subcompact slide with a width that is under one inch. This means more comfort and less printing. There are currently no MOS variants available.
