Bear Creek Arsenal Grizzly - Budget Glock Killer??? BC-101
Hey, guys, welcome back! I know a lot of you are interested in Bear Creek Arsenal, BCA. One of the biggest reasons is affordability, and they do offer a lot of calibers, unique calibers, I've got the 300 Win Mag AR coming, I can't wait to try that out, the .30-06, that was way cool too. Anyway, they just recently released their first ever pistol, the Grizzly.
This is a 9mm. From all that I can tell it is essentially a Glock clone, it uses Glock 17 mags, which is huge, awesome, I wish everybody would just use Glock mags, it really would make things easy. As far as feel it feels a lot like a Glock, but anyway I've got a whole lot of ammo, what I want to do is I want I want to put this to the test. Let's run 700 to 1,000 rounds, and also this comes optic ready, so I want to throw a red dot on here so I can stretch over there at the long distance range, see how far we can go up the hill. We'll test for accuracy, we'll test a whole bunch of different rounds to see what it likes best, and anyway go from there. Let's see what we can do with the Grizzly.

Bear Creek Arsenals, the Grizzly, their first pistol just show showed up today, this one does not have the fluted barrel. It comes with two mags, these are the KCI, this does take the Glock 17 mags, that was good thinking.
Let's just do a quick front-to-back, we've got the Picatinny, four-slot Picatinny1911 rail, which is nice. We've got, whatever you want to call them, the windows here on top, and then one on both sides. Got the slide release that is not ambidextrous, that is only on the one side. The mag release, I'll have to see look in the directions and see if that is changeable, and then the texturing, interesting texturing, it supposed to look kind of like fur, but I will say it's actually very comfortable in the hands.
As far as the trigger pull, that's actually really nice trigger, the reset, oh, that's small, short, I will say the trigger is light.
And then for sights we've got rear iron, front iron, that's nice, the front is not adjustable, the rear we can adjust for windage, it's got a luminescent paint or something in there, we'll have to check that out.
As far as breakdown, that was easy, and barrel pops out. Just simply pull this down and it goes forward and slides off very Glock-fashion, but I like that. When you have an awesome easy takedown why do something different? And then up here it comes optics ready with RMR mount. Then we have the lightning cuts and those are nice, they're deep on the front and the rear.
Let's just see real quick here what we get for trigger pull. It can't be right, it feels a lot less than that, I know I'm going to pull it at an angle, six, it's feeling a little more like it, six, little over six. Guys, it is a nice trigger.
It has a really nice flared magwell. I did also just go into a dark room, and those are actually illuminated, really nice, they're really actually dark in the light, I just I wasn't sure how well they were going to do, but they did a great job in almost Pitch Black, I could actually see them, so yeah, let's go out and start shooting.
It looks cool, it looks great on paper, everything always does, really the only thing that matters is once we get to the range and start putting rounds through it; Is it reliable? Is it accurate is it comfortable? I recently had a pistol that left me some really nasty blisters on my hand, so let's find out what the Grizzly is all about. What I want to do is I want to start back here with just the iron sights in the CQB range, have some fun, go through maybe a couple hundred rounds, and then I want to go back and I want to put a red dot on it, and then I want to stretch it at 50, 100, 200, also come back here and play some more with the transition. Anyway, let's just get to the review.
Hey, guys, so this is the first shots, I've got AAC's 147 grain full metal jacket, I'm just going to use the iron sights. When I like to shoot my philosophy is shoot at distance, if I can hit easily at 25 yards, 50 yards, 100 yards, okay, that says a lot about the gun, I mean if I can hit it consistently and quickly at 25 yards I ought to be able to hit it over here at 10 yards, so keeping with tradition let's see if I can hit it at 25 yards.
I would say, yes! That's nice, guys! That is a comfortable shooting gun!
Let's see what we can do at 50 with the iron sights!
I don't know about you but I thought that was pretty good!
Alright, let's try it, yeah, let's do it again! Let's go 25 yards one-handed!
And I was aiming for that small one that made a different sound!
Guys, I'm going to be honest, thus far, I'm really liking this!
We are just under 300 rounds!
Nice!
Alright, that was an awesome way to finish 300 rounds, guys, that was 300 rounds, and I wanted to do that nonstop, I can't even touch this barrel, I can feel it, it is smoking hot. Other than I think the mag issues, I really don't think we had any issues. What I want to do is I want to let it cool off, and then I want to put a red dot on here and start having some fun. I am not going to clean it, I want to leave it just as it is, but I want to get a red dot, get that zeroed, and then start reaching out at some distance, and then also see what we can get for groups.
I did just notice something, I noticed a pin walking out here, we will tap that back in, that's good to know. I don't see anything else coming loose, but, yeah, that's a problem.
It's a bit windy! I was getting ready to put a red dot on here, but before I do that I want to see if I can hit it at 100.
That was over 700 rounds without a cleaning, I want to test accuracy with some of the load, so I am going to clean it at this point, and I might actually put a little Loctite on that, I don't know, see if that works.
Hey, that was pretty good!
Considering I can't see iron sights, worth of crap, I'm going to give that two thumbs up. Now I want to put a red dot on there and see what we can do with the red dot. Right there we're over 300 rounds, and I got to say comfortable in the hands, no wearing points, nothing on my finger. Anyway, let's get a red dot on here.
Just came inside from shooting at the 100, couple things here, first of all let me address the instruction manual, if that's what you would call it, I'm going to be honest, I think it really sucks, there's no pictures, there's really limited to no information in here. Anyway, couple things I was looking for is the screw size, does it have plates, and does it take Plus P, I did not see and I apologize if it is in there somewhere, but I'm not seeing if it will take plus P, I’ll reached out to Bear Creek and I'll find out about that.
As far as the screws for the optic, I've got a Cyelee Bull, I love this optic, this is the screws that this takes so if you're want to know there you go. The other thing is it's an RMR footprint, but there's usually something that fits in these, there's no plate, there's no mention in the instruction manual or anything, so basically this is just going to sit on here. That's new to me, I'm used to always having something that has got the little post that fit on that, so you basically have four points. The other thing was after shooting at 100-yard cards this does look like it's starting to move again, we'll keep an eye on that, but anyway, I'm going to get this mounted and we'll go from there.

Got a beautiful morning here, I've got my Cyelee Bull on here, I did a review on this, I know it is it is a massive red dot, but I really like it, you'll have to check that out. Anyway, that seemed perfect to put on here, it seems pretty solid. Let's just see what we can do here real quick at 50, and then let's start stretching and see how far we can go. One note here, the slide release does not release the slide, I mean I can push as hard as I possibly can and it will not go down, I'm not sure if that was an intentional design, but I can pull back and release, so maybe it's just a different design, it's only to actually hold it back when the mag is empty, I have no idea.
I think it's on, at least for a full-size IDPA. Let's see if we can do that at 100. Let's see if we can reach down there to 100 like I was saying, it doesn't release but it works just fine that way.
And I would say all of those missed shots are totally the shooter’s desire to want to start pushing is sometimes really hard to overcome, and I have not had a full cup of coffee.
Let's give the 200 a go!
Here's some something, it's done this once before, I'm going to hold this, the trigger’s in, I'm not sure, it's stuck, and it was chambered, that was the second time that's happened.
Hey, there's four in a row, nice!
I think what happened with that is on the reset because I'm shooting, and I'm pulling, and I'm holding that really tight, and then I'm releasing really slow, I think those two were basically it got sort of hung up or stuck on that really slow long reset. It locks itself out again!
I want to see how fast I can transition with the Bull on this, also it's a 700 plus round torture test, we are coming up on the 700 mark, and then what I'm going to do is we're going to go over and put up some paper, and test all those different ammos and see what we can get for groups. Anyway, let's just have a little fun with a red dot, see how we can transition. The pin here, I got pushed back in, we'll see if it walks back out again.
This is the third time that's happened, the trigger is in, it's chambered. It is not a light primer strike, the trigger simply got stuck in the back position.
Here is the 700-round mark. Now I want to try some of the CCI aluminum.
Let's try Wolf and see how that does!
Let's try Wolf Military Classic, and our pin is starting to walk again!
That was over 700 rounds without a cleaning. I want to test accuracy with some of the different loads so I am going to clean it at this point, and I might actually, I don't know, I might put a little Loctite on that, I don't know, see if that works.
Let's just start off with these four at 50 yards and see what we can get for our accuracy.
Let's take a look at those groups!
Never ceases to amaze me! There's the Geco, that's really not a bad size group, and that's Tula, guys. I kid you not everybody, I get fantastic groups with Tula. That's the SAR USA, yeah, not so good. Wow, okay, it definitely did not like the Fiocchi. Alright, got two more to try.
So, what do we have, we have the American Eagle here, you get rid of the two flyers, that's not a bad group. The Speer Gold, the 147 grain, I did only have eight rounds left in the box, that's not bad.
Well, there you go, guys, it is what it is. You saw the review, you decide what you think. Some red Loctite on there, we just did 60 rounds and it hasn't budged, I think we fixed the issue.
There you go, it is what it is! I hope you found this helpful. Until next time on gun.deals, happy shooting.
