For most of us, the thought of getting our hands on an actual MP5 is as appealing as it is unlikely. After all, who's got the $25,000-plus to drop on an original? Certainly not us. But there IS some good news: Zenith has produced a highly affordable civilian version that features the same action, same operation and same proportions as the original. AND…it's made in the USA.

Like the original MP5, the Zenith ZF-5P runs via gas-operated, roller-delayed blowback action, which helps to soften recoil and makes it easy to put a lot of lead downrange very quickly—and with a high degree of accuracy for targets near and far. The 5.8" cold hammer-forged, 4150 CMV steel barrel features 6-groove rifling and comes with a 1/2x28 threaded muzzle to accept a classic 3-prong flash hider (not included) or suppressor.

The trigger breaks nicely at 6-8 lbs., and the ambidextrous safety selector is a huge improvement over the German original. Zenith also provided an AR-style mag release button in addition to the paddle-style mag release of the original. Both work well, but the paddle release is more fun, if we may be so bold. Sights are a bit different if you're used to the AR-15 life, but they're fairly intuitive and allow you to work at a number of different ranges.

This is a new-production model that comes with (1) 30-rd. magazine, soft case and owner's manual. This is probably as affordable as an MP5 clone will EVER be, and supplies are limited, so if you want one, don't wait.
