“But what is 9mm NATO ammo, Lucky Gunner?” That’s a great question! It is essentially 9mm that’s loaded to higher than standard chamber pressure – but not quite high enough to qualify as +P. Your average 9mm round is loaded to a chamber pressure of no more than 35,000 psi. 9mm NATO is loaded to a pressure of around 36,500 psi. 9mm +P is loaded to a pressure of no more than 38,500 psi.
“But what is the point of 9mm NATO ammo, Lucky Gunner?” That’s also a great question! Its higher muzzle velocity lets you witness a slightly flatter trajectory while you’re shooting targets at the range. It also generates more recoil energy (which is to say that it kicks a little harder), and it should only be fired in modern 9mm firearms that are rated for +P. Don’t run this ammo through an antique!
