Amen, and the way they advertise their "omni-directional mics" you'd think it would offer stereo sound but (regardless of 2 or 4 mics, depending on model) all tend to be mixed into a single mono feed which seems like it is coming from the inside of your head. Even for flat range use I want to know where sounds are coming from. Safety issues can happen in a split second...knowing which way the danger is can be a life or death.
That being said I still like my Razor Slims and Walker's XCEL 500BT. The latter seems to provide some directional sounds....sometimes.
Razor Slims are junk, you should look at The 3M PELTOR ComTac V headset, after all they are "no insanely high for what it is. When you're at the range it would be nice "knowing which way the danger is can be a life or death." Bahahaha!
If you need advice from BooHoo about shooting ear protection just remember "The latter seems to provide some directional sounds....sometimes."

Sam's Club version also has the gel pads, which saves another ~$17. It's a great deal.
I much prefer to the stereo direction on the howard leights, not sure if there is any other brand that offers the stereo directionality for the price of the howard leights. These walker's don't really offer any way to pin point where sound is coming from.
