Description
Although the resourcefully equipped Confederate soldier could not compete with Union repeating rifles, it was a different story when it came to revolvers. These Spiller & Burr handguns did not typically require a special type of ammunition, making them easy for Southern troops to acquire and operate.
This Confederate Pistol was born of a need for the South to arm itself. The 36 caliber revolver was adopted as the standard revolver of the Confederate Government. The Spiller & Burr was modeled after the Whitney Revolver with only a few minor adjustments. During the Southern campaign only 1,500 revolvers were actually made making them very hard to find and desirable. This Traditions replica is perfect for re-enactments or display. This Traditions Spiller & Burr replica features a 6.5" blued octagonal barrel, brass frame, brass guard, and walnut grip. It is availabe in .36 caliber, weighs 2.75 lbs., and is 12.5" in length.

Nice looking pistol, but I don't know what happened to the black powder market with these prices. You can buy a nice semi-automatic 9mm for less money.
What happened was 8 years of "quantitative easing" under Obamanations pt.1 & 2, then a brief 4 years of #45 getting the US economy that had been stuck in the doldrums for 8 years under Obummer kick-started, then 4 years of Bidenflation under the Joetato's (optically similar to a president, but a vegetable) illegitimate regime after the 2020 election fraud, so now we're looking at all varieties of the Italian repros selling for 2x or more what they did 20 years ago when the prices for "Reb" brass-framed models started at $150 and went up from there, and the steel-framed models started about $225 & up. This all varies w/ popularity, off course: for something like this Spiller & Burr [brass-framed Confederate copy of the Whitney revolver the Yankees used] that was rare IRL [only about 1500 were ever produced] and kind of esoteric such that there's just not a huge demand from the reenactor crowd [Pietta basically can easily sell 2 of their "Buffalo" brass-framed .44cal Remington NMA clones for every one of these] so Pietta only does a short run of them whenever their backorders of everything else are filled. Have you seen what Uberti is asking for their '47 Walkers these days? Or Pietta for their LeMats? This thing is positively *frugal* in comparison!
This was a good (not smokin', but good) deal given that it was at least 10% off the nearest other vendor that had any in stock so that even after paying for shipping, I saved money vs. purchase price alone from anywhere else. I just bought the last one, so this seller is now OOS.
Wondering how it differs dimensionally from the (Pietta) Remington NMA [commonly misnomered "1858" because of the patent date], looking forward to comparing them to one another...

Lol, I remember buying a pistol kit for about $100 but I'm sure those days are gone. Let me know how it looks and shoots.
