You are right, it is a little scary if this optics ready or not. Photo suggests yes it is but when I google the UPC (725327938118) or SKU (1-GX4XL941) most of the models shown for sale (via google) aren't. Also according to https://www.taurususa.com/product/pistols/taurus-gx4/taurus-gx4xl-black-9mm-luger-3-7-in-10-rds/... the optics ready config is for the "Taurus Optic Ready Option T.O.R.O." (odd wording). And this doesn't appear to the their upgraded TORO model.
Unless you can get the vendor to take one out of the box, I'd lean towards it probably is not optics ready. FWIW, I'm betting $1000 the vendor is drop shipping so they probably wouldn't be much help.
P.S. I agree with Livinitup1976, Taurus has really hit the ball out of their park with their newer models (PT111 / G2, and on, had a G1 Millennium 45...and that was almost there but not quite). They are still budget guns but really well made, plenty of value. I also have their PT92 which has been fantastic. Older model than the G2's but built on Beretta tooling so makes sense why that turned out so well.
This is a really good deal on a nice little budget carry pistol. Taurus has made leaps and bounds over the old Taurus guns. This particular model is a very slim, compact pistol but still holds a whole 13+1 rounds. Top it off, it is optics ready. Sure they may not have match grade triggers but for conceal carry it is just fine. The more you shoot it, the smoother the trigger gets..for $200, you can't go wrong on this deal.
Can we get a confirmation if this model is optic ready or not? The upc shows up as non optic ready
