FEATURES:
The Taurus GX2 is a compact, high-performance handgun designed for self-defense and concealed carry. Chambered in 9mm, the GX2 features a 3.37-inch barrel, providing a balance between manageable recoil and effective accuracy. Whether for personal protection or everyday carry, this firearm ensures that users have access to a reliable and well-rounded tool, built with the latest firearm technology.

Built with the striker fire action, the Taurus GX2 offers a smooth, consistent trigger pull that enhances accuracy and control. This system also contributes to a shorter, more responsive trigger reset, which is crucial for fast follow-up shots. The striker-fired mechanism is widely respected for its simplicity and reliability, making the GX2 an excellent option for those seeking an easy-to-use yet efficient handgun.

The 9mm caliber of the Taurus GX2 delivers a solid punch while maintaining a manageable recoil, making it suitable for a wide range of shooters, including those who may be new to firearms or those looking for a concealed carry option. The recoil is softened further by the design and weight of the pistol, ensuring that users can maintain control in high-stress situations.

A standout feature of the Taurus GX2 is its 13+1 capacity, which is a significant advantage in a compact pistol. With 13 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber, the GX2 provides users with ample firepower without sacrificing concealability. The magazine design ensures smooth feeding and a quick reload time, contributing to the firearm’s overall practicality for everyday carry and self-defense.

The pistol is fitted with a black polymer grip that enhances both the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the firearm. The ergonomic design of the grip allows for a comfortable and secure hold, even in stressful situations. It ensures that the user maintains control of the handgun, improving both safety and performance. The texturing on the grip offers added traction, which is essential for maintaining accuracy and minimizing the chance of slipping when firing.
The Taurus GX2 is constructed with a rugged frame, built to withstand the rigors of everyday carry. Its durable polymer frame is lightweight and resistant to the wear and tear that can come with daily use, offering a long-lasting and dependable firearm. The compact size of the GX2 makes it easy to conceal and carry, yet it still delivers a solid feel in the hand, giving shooters confidence in their ability to handle the pistol effectively.

Equipped with front and rear sights, the Taurus GX2 allows for rapid target acquisition. The design of the sights ensures that users can quickly line up their shot in various lighting conditions, making it an ideal choice for both daytime and low-light environments. The simplicity of the sight system complements the pistol's overall user-friendly design, allowing shooters to focus on performance without distraction.

Designed with safety in mind, the Taurus GX2 includes a manual safety and a trigger safety to prevent accidental discharges. These safety features add an extra layer of confidence for users who need to rely on their firearm in high-pressure situations. The combination of safety and performance makes the GX2 an appealing option for both experienced gun owners and those new to concealed carry.

With its 13+1 capacity, striker fire action, ergonomic polymer grip, and durable construction, the Taurus GX2 9mm handgun is a versatile and reliable option for anyone seeking a dependable concealed carry firearm. Whether you're looking for a firearm for self-defense or simply need a high-performing pistol for daily carry, the Taurus GX2 delivers a powerful and accurate solution.

I noticed that even the mags are made in Brazil for the gx2. Both my gx4 and gx4 carry have mecgar mags. These Brazil mags have a giant weld spot down the back of the magazine that just makes it feel and look cheap. If they would have just kept the mecgar mags and offered optics ready, this would have been more successful. I do like the takedown mechanism, slimmed 13rd frame, and the deep slide cuts though so it does have postives.

To be fair, can you see the weld when the magazine is in the gun? Does it impact usage? If not, I think it is more of a perception problem.

FWIW, I agree with the optics ready standpoint but Taurus branded mags typically are very reliable. Mec-Gar mags might be an upgrade though, an upgrade that could drive up the cost of a budget gun by $10+ per included mag, making it no longer the most reliable gun budget gun within a certain price point. For $200-ish I don't think you can get a better (NEW) gun for real world use however in the $250+ range you can find plenty of similar / better ones. They can only keep so many bells and whistles while maintaining the price point.

*A sloppy weld could interfere with inserting / injecting a mag or cause a premature failure but it doesn't sound like that is what you are hinting at.

I agree. What does one expect for $200? I can forgive a sloppy looking weld on a magazine... I've owned several Taurus guns over the years and with exception of the very old g2, they all have performed in an acceptable manner. Are they top notch, hand assembled pistols? No way... Do they function and shoot reliably? Mine do. Are the triggers a mostly heavy, gritty experience? Yes they are...but if you break them in and or hand polish the internal components, they do get much better after a few hundred rounds. Today's Taurus guns have Alot higher quality standards then those from say 10 years ago on. Again for $200 these make fine self defense sidearms.

And Taurus also has great warranty support....when they have a part in stock. But when they don't, if you make enough noise, they'll figure something out. I had a situation years ago with a PT738, something broke, don't remember what, they were going to next day me the part (no questions asked) but then figured out it was on backorder, for months. I emailed back and forth with CS a few times when they were trying to get a solid ETA then they just sent me an assembly with the part in it, so I just ended up with a few extra parts...which is never a bad thing ;)

FWIW, I've owned a PT738, a "Millennium" 45 ACP, a PT92, and their G2. All great guns. Still have the PT92 and the G2. The G2 I keep it in my EDC backpack as a backup gun. Solid ass gun. The PT92 is pretty sweet too, like the OG M9 "tactical" models without that (old) Beretta price tag.

Hey I love the gun. I bought it right when it came out but I was just sharing the differences between the gx4 and gx2. I put a galloway striker spring in and it made it even better. I love my taurus handguns. I have 4 tx22s, a g3x, gx4, gx4 carry and the gx2, love them all. They are all extremely reliable. Please don't think I was being a hater.

I didn't think you were being a hater, we all have things like that which irk us. I was just stating I didn't think it should functionally matter (unless it did functionally cause a problem). Some fit a finish issues are to be expected with cheap (whatever) but others can seem inexcusable. We all probably have a different line of which is which.

Made in Brazil. Big step backwards for the company.
No thanks.
One review shows the mags are really low quality.
If they prove themselves over the next year or so, maybe. But no way i would risk it now based on the history.

Only a few Taurus models have been or are made in the USA, it is a Brazilian company and has always been so no surprise a vast majority of their products are imported from that country.

Actually, that's false.

As of 2019, the primary manufacturing facility and headquarters for Taurus International Manufacturing, Inc. is located in Bainbridge, Georgia. Prior to this, Taurus was based in Miami, Florida where their products were made but they relocated their operations to the new Georgia facility, which includes a 200,000 square-foot manufacturing center.

While they still manufacture in Brazil, the products produced there are intended for the world market. Meanwhile. the Bainbridge facility is now the main site for all their U.S. manufacturing and business operations which means Mr. Fish that the VAST MAJORITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS are made in the US and NOT imported from Brazil.

"Acthually"...that is not false

They produce SOME models here and do final QC / final stages of production for many other Brazilian made models. "A vast majority" may pass through their Bainbridge facility, but aren't produced there. Uhm, Acthually....a huge difference

Unless you have proof? For example objective figures comparing units made at one location vs the other? Of course you don't. Acthually that is probably too much to ask.

Fun bit of reading but you might have to use the translate feature in your browser. As of Aug 2025 (way back then, right?) Taurus announced it PLANS TO move MORE of its production to the US because of tariffs. Not all, but more. So as of now, much of their production is still a little south of GA ;)

https://www.noticiasaominuto.com/mundo/2835371/empresa-de-armas-brasileira-vai-transferir-parte-da-producao-para-eua...

(Translated)"The goal is to begin assembling around 900 weapons of this model in the United States from September, out of the approximately 2,100 that it produces daily in its factories in Brazil and destined for the North American market.....The sanction, therefore, caused a devaluation of Taurus shares, since 82.5% of its revenue comes from exports to the United States.

Unless I am bad at math "82.5%" is a "vast majority" of a whole 100% figure.......

P.S. Fun fact, when someone starts off with "Acthually" there is a 137% chance they are going to start pulling alt facts from their culo ;)
