Quick answer, No. "Better" is a bit vague, but this Springfield bolt .22 has a better price of $150 less depending on its wood Grade and choice of CZ model, it shares inexpensive magazines with the Ruger 10/22, and that's about it. I think the CZ 457 is the best value, high quality, current production bolt 22LR. In my opinion if you can afford a CZ I think you will probably be more satisfied with its reliable and repeatable accuracy, closer tolerances, finer metal finish, better wood to metal fit, stock quality and various stock options, caliber swaps, availability to swap barrels, long barrels, short barrels, iron sights or not, reliable history, resale value, etc. Many 22LR competitors use the CZ in its various forms because they are reliably accurate and custom stocks are available. The Springfield has been much less reliable with accuracy mainly due to its lesser quality control and sloppy cartridge feeding leading to flyers, which is unacceptable in competition, but as a plinking gun you may be satisfied with it. If you're looking for an entry level trainer bolt 22 you might look at the Cricket. For an inexpensive semi-auto the Ruger 10/22 still reigns. High-end 22LR's are typically well over $1k.
