XD pistols sold for $500 to $750 for the longest time. Then Turkish company BRG introduced their BRG-9 pistol which was - for all intents and purposes - a copy of this gun but with better steel, beefier feed rails, 3 mags, a full cleaning kit, and a nice case; out the door price: $179.
Within months I saw the prices of XD pistols come down, then come down some more, and they still seem to keep falling. How shameful that Springfield Armory would financially rape its clients for so long and thank goodness for some old fashioned capitalistic competition.
No different than Glock, SIG SAUER, Beretta, Hekler and Koch and the list goes on. It's how the market works.
But this lacks the GRIP ZONE! How will I know where to hold the pistol?!?
My first pistol was a Gen 1 XD like this. I got it for just under $500 out the door in...2010...? It came with a bunch of free mags, and something else, after mail in rebate.
Springfield had the Gen 2 XD with the GRIP ZONE and have now moved onto the Echelon, so these are pretty much clearance prices for a great, but dated, pistol.
A steal at $200. Overbuilt for duty and haven't had an issue with mags at all. A bit of an old design missing modern features like optic cut and modular grip, but a solid pistol that I would call reliable after years of range trips.
