The world of tactical rifles forever changed in 2004 when Springfield Armory® introduced the M1A™ SOCOM 16. 7.62NATO power in a package this small was previously unthinkable. Shooters who need a compact rifle no longer have to settle for a lesser caliber, although they can expect less felt recoil and less muzzle rise, thanks to the SOCOM 16′s unique design.

Read the reviews... Seems the multi cam black color wasn't applied to the stock very well. a few failure to feeds, but the main complaint is the cheap paint job :( I really want one of these and I am willing to pay the $200 premium due the to times, but not on this multi cam disaster.

AR10 is better in almost every way. Think of a Mini14 compared to an AR15, just in 308.
That being said, for whatever reason, if you gave me this and an AR10 and told me to pick one to keep, I'd probably take this.

No reason to buy this over an AR10 except nostalgia. This rifle is literally incapable of holding zero under combat conditions, the Army spent millions and walked away from it

Very fair points on this vs AR-10. That said, you made your own argument. Nostalgia. Are modern striker-fired polymer pistols far superior now compared to 22LR old-school revolver designs? Yup. Are modern piston-driven AR-15s far superior to bolt rifles? Pretty much yup.

People still buy this stuff because they want to. It might be nostalgia. It might not be. But America has never been about buying what is superior, what you need, or what other people THINK you should buy. You buy it because you want it, can afford it, and you’ll enjoy it - no matter what other people think.

It is a free country. Sort of. For now. So stock up, all who want one. The storm is coming, and the window to openly exercise our rights is closing. We all see it and feel it. Stop bickering and get to buying, stocking, and training.

Buying things is an affliction that diminishes our life, liberty, and happiness

I truly hope that’s sarcasm, but it wasn’t followed by the typical “/s” after the comment. So I’ll assume you’re serious and answer accordingly.

If I have liberty, I am free to do whatever I want. If I have happiness, I am free to pursue that which makes me happy.

And if I am free to my life, I can rightfully f’n protect it with whatever the hell method I so choose.

You must be thinking of the M14....not this M1a, since that is what the Army and Marines used.
The army and marines wanted to keep the M14 but politicians forced the M16 on them.
It's still used in M25 configuration....as a very accurate sniper rifle.
You were saying ?

Are you serious? The M1a is Springfields designation for their civilian M14s. Same action, same receiver, just semi auto. And no the M25 sucks, which is why they still use the M24 (R700)

It’s a free country and your money, but these are dinosaurs to be put out to pasture. An AR10 is superior in every way

I wouldn't buy either one. .308 is a shitty old caliber, 6.5 beats the hell out of it in every way except in armor penetration and civs can't buy AP anyway.

You mean the OTHER Springfield Armory ? the real one....not this one ?
Yea, thought that's what you meant.
Oh, you didn't know ?

I’m not buying, but I like this one WAY better than the Kryptek Highlands version.
