I don't think they need to list +P.

Received my 686 6 shot 6” barrel February 27th from the FFL before the price hike and no issues of any kind. Shot mostly 38 special ammo, but 22 hot 357 hand loads, double and single action shooting. Just over a 100 rounds total on two different occasions. 40 Cowboy lead rounds left the barrel with very little leading, less than expected. Good revolver.

What was the price when you bought? Wish they had a history feature

The pistol I received was in new unblemished condition.

No body care about your PSA rants, loser.

**BEWARE** These are used guns! meaning they have either been previously sold and returned, display models, some have even been fired! READ THE REVIEWS on the PSA website! I was shocked at how many reviews showed pictures of what they received from PSA!

There were some guns that didn't meet the "new" condition standard, but almost all of them were "new"......by Smith & Wesson standards. And there inlies the problem. Smith & Wesson's QC is pretty poor these days, but the below observations are typical of any new 686, no matter where you buy it from.
1) Many people obviously have never owned a modern 686 before, and didn't realize that S&W stainless guns do not come with a high polish. It is more of a satin buff, with LOTS of fine polishing scratches that go in different directions.
2) The discoloration on the hammer and trigger, that many people assume is from use/poor QC/oxidation, is actually case hardening. That is the way they are supposed to look, and it varies in darkness/blotchyness between units.
3) The dark smudging or dirt that people notice on the stainless frame is leftover buffing compound (abrasive wax) that S&W failed to remove, but wipes off easily.
4) The cylinder drag ring, and residue left in/on the frame/cylinder from what people consider to be signs of a "used" gun, is actually test firing from the factory. Would be nice if S&W dressed the cylinder bolt better and the cleaned the gun before packaging.
Some of the other complaints such as larger scratches, gouges on the cylinder ratchet, chatter marks on front chamfer cylinder chambers, etc., are all valid, and unfortunately more common on the 686 coming out of the S&W factory these last few years. Bottom line......S&W QC SUCKS, no matter what vendor you get their guns from. I've bought (8) S&W revolvers (some were PC models) this year, from different vendors, and been unhappy with ALL of them.

That's a real shame! I have several S&W revolvers, majority 686 and 586, all produced from the no dash 1984 model to the earlier of the -6 models. I haven't bought any in over 6 years so I wasn't aware of the new QC issues.

By any chance have you handled the new Colt Anacdona? I'm wondering how they compare; there's currently a $100 rebate, and I'm really tempted to order a 4" .357 Anaconda.

Well said, excellent information. It amazes me what some folks do not understand about a firearm or any other type item that goes thru testing at a facility prior to shipping.
Yes these companies could do better about cleaning and polishing up the gun before shipping it but that would probably equate to higher prices in the end. Every step in research, development, manufacturing, assembly, QC, testing and then shipping, costs the manufacturer money. Those costs are then handed down to consumers. Me personally, Id rather pay less for a gun that comes to me a bit oily, has buffing compound, etc that I can very easily clean off, then to pay extra for a squeaky clean firearm. A rag, a little cleaning solution and elbow grease will be needed anyhow after the 1st range trip. Heck it gives the consumer an opportunity to learn their firearm right out of the box, breaking it down and cleaning it all before taking it to live fire practice. It's a "glass half empty, or a glass half full" situation.
Now this obviously doesn't cover the true QC problems that seem to plague almost all of the big name manufacturing companies. With the demand so high for inexpensive, budget friendly guns, these companies struggle to keep up, often at the expense as I stated before, QC. It's up to the consumer to hold companies accountable when there truly is an issue.
Good luck in your search and future purchases!

There was a shipment of "refurbished" guns that were mislabeled by the factory. It was a limited amount of these that ended up in customers hands. The newest reviews are great and they still maintain a 4.5/5 stars customer reviews. PSA made things right with those customers from what I've learned.Things happen sometimes but we all know your hate for PSA. Personally I've made dozens of purchases from PSA without issue.

I make no excuses for my HATE of PSA. They are schister Company and that is what I learned from doing business with them...never again though!

Your concerns are valid. If you had a bad experience then obviously you can shop elsewhere. It's called the free market for a reason after all! The only issue I have is your use of multiple accounts to rack up "down votes" and negative feedback from the same ad. I don't think that is a fair deal, not just for the company but those of us considering a purchase.
